MTL Builds for flavor.

So I own a berserker MTL RTA, not the mini, the 24 one, and I'm messing around with builds to test the flavor production. Had some luck with 7 wrap 28g Kanthal wire not spaced around 1.2-1.3 ohms at 15watts.
Then tried some SS 28g same build but the flavor was questionable.
Now I'm running a 5 wraps Clapton 28/32g I think its SS(?), at 0.8 ohms 18 watts and I kinda like it, I just build that so I can't say if its actually flavorful but will see in the next 1/2 tanks.
So guys, what build do you use on ur MTL attys and what build you recommend with closed eyes to a newbie to mtl builds like me?
Another question I wanna ask is if I can use this 'inowire' on my MTL, its that wire with the hole inside it that ohms pretty low.
Thank you in advance.

When I'm in the mood for Tootie Puffing my go to is 32x2/40 SS @ around 0.9Ω, sometimes 34x2/44 SS. That will give me the best flavor and satisfying vape. For you I'd recommend trying SS Twisted with 32g.

Also IMO 32g is shitty for wrapping wire, for Claptons try not to get any Claptons that have wrapping wire fatter than 36g.

For my doggystyle and other tanks I do a 2.5 mm 6 to 6 1/2 (depends on tank style) spaced (narrow) wraps 316L SS, 28AWG, comes in around 0.6 ohms and vape at 12W. For ego one and doggystyle tank in a stealth40 mod for stealth low vapor vaping, I use 30 Awg nichrome 80 at the same dimensions as above, comes in around 1.3 ohms and vape at 9W. Good flavor, simple build.

Don't have berserker but... The Challice3 on my Reo has .63 coil of 3x32n80 twisted with silica wick, My Serpent alto is 26awg SS at .6 ohm and my Avocado is running 26awg SS at .41 all are single coil and all run at 20 watts or less. On my Pico all are running at 12watts with a 1.5 second 150%preheat. SS does some TC at TCR 75 watts at 21.

Steam-engine.org will help..... I like to target builds for a Flux of 200 at 20 to 25 watts. Most often result is acceptable vapor and good flavor production. BUT I DIY my juice so ALL builds can be made to give great flavor by adjusting the juice.

I have the Hastur & Siren 2 RTA’s and they both perform great with Fused Claptons. That was puntuated though, when I started building my own and used smaller gauges than is typically available online. I’ve been building mostly SS 316L (30*2)x40 fused and/or staggered claptons. I try to build as high as possible (0.6-0.8), but I’m not sold that ohms have anything to do with flavor. As mentioned above I’d pay more attention to the “heat flux”. I fire anywhere between 15-20 watts. The RTA’s I have use the channel style build deck and I found the larger diameter coils, essentially filling the channel with as much coil as possible, without shorting, definately increases the tanks flavor. This is odd as I typically get better flavor with smaller diameter coils in my DL Dual Coil RTA’s. Dunno...

Doing a side by side test you can tell exactly why 36 and above are better choices. I think even 36 isn't all that great. It's like the starting point to good coils though. I worked my way from 36 to 46, realized the same goes for really high guage too. 40 has the durability, responsiveness your looking for and none of the hassle of 42 and above. At that point I can't tell the difference in the vape, I just know my coils are for sure lasting longer, and I'm not popping wraps when I clean coils.

I have the Beserker Mini and loved the flavour on the pre installed coil that came with it so I managed to find the MTL Clapton wire by VandyVape that they used to make them. I tried it in the SS version but preferred the N80 version much more as the flavour is far more enhanced. VandyVape now sell the pre made coils that come with the Beserker and they are really nice, they are great value for money too as you get 10 in a little glass bottle for £2.99 and they seem to last a long time. I am still pretty new at building coils and haven't ventured into making Claptons etc so these are perfect for me. I found that when I wick the Beserker if I use just a little bit more cotton than I think I need I get the best flavour and zero leaks. I use a juice that I can barely taste in most devices but pops on this build in my Beserker Mini so I must be doing something right. All the best.

Alot of people seem to be mentioning exotic coils but in my MTL i use simple micro coils that ohm out 0.8-1.0 ohms vaped at 15 watts. I find clapton coils in an MTL atty to be far too warm of a vape.

Agree. Stupid simple coil in my kayfun is still the best mtl flavor I’ve ever had. Small chamber and the small hole in the drip tip make a simple coil rock. If you need crazy coils to get good flavor in a mtl device, you’re using the wrong device. Just my opinion.

To be honest i totally agree, less is more and the chamber is too small for exotic coils. Which kayfun do you use?? I have a mini v3 & a prime :)

The newest kayfun prime is pretty good, redeemed theirselves since the v4 & v5 weren't as good as the mini v3 imo.
Have you looked into any of the new cheaper MTL attys though. I've been using
the galaxies RDTA. easy to build, easy to wick, as a plunger system where you just push it in to fill. You've gotta take the top off like with all RDTAS but alot better than having to fill right where the cotton is. It's easiest MTL atty i've used so been reaching for it the most. The flavour is fantastic. It's all i'm using at the moment. I have a couple squonkers but i can't really get into squonking

I use a squonker for direct lung vaping, but have been wanting a new mtl atty. Got my wife an innokin zenith mtl tank, the one designed by pbusardo and his buddy, and it vapes great. Takes prebuilt coil heads though, so I thought maybe the rebuildable tank they designed might be a good one. Not sure what I want yet. I’ll look up the one you mentioned.

Berserker RDA is good too but doesn't look the best and the recurve is good for squonkers. I don't do sub ohm anyway more though. I picked up a berserker RDA cos i wanted a good squonking RDA. got sick of dripping on it cos gotta remove the cap to drip an the cap is tight as fuck!

I’ll probably get a mtl tank and use on my non squonk mod. I like fruity juice for dl, and I make a good tiramisu for mtl. That way I can have two different setups ready to go with two different flavors loaded. Seems I like to mtl in the morning with my coffee and switch to dl after.

one thing i tired was the flat bastard coil in my ammit mtl rda and it wasnt bad it was a 2mm ohm to .56 and vaped at 10 to 18 watts and was enjoyable but now im looking for something a little different for it, and most coils i see i tried or dont get the right wire, im mostly a kanthal user, i am looking into some ss316L mesh for the abyss coil but if anyone has a coil i should try please let me know. For the flat bastard coil is 32 kanthal twisted with .8x.1 flat kanth wrap around kinda like a flat clapton
