Thanks Andria. I'm not posting to her FB anymore. She never "likes" anything I write anyway. Even other people have noticed and asked me about it. My son is not the person he was or that I raised. His mind has become warped. I'll never put my foot forward again to be nice or reach out to either one of them. If they want to talk to me, I may or may not answer the phone.
You know, my brother always acted like the independent type, but the moment he met his first girlfriend / current wife, he was totally submissive / mind warped. Now he wont even speak to my mother, so, I mean...it happens. People make alterations to accommodate the person they're with. And some people tend to shape their personality around their partner.

I'm sorry several people on here didn't have the mothers day that they deserve. Hope you all can enjoy the day even if the children arent keeping up their end.

Yes it's something how some of the people on here did not have good Mother's growing up. Your brother sounds exactly like my son. There's nothing I can do about it. It does hurt but things happen. Thanks again

You know the really neat thing about those chicken chalupas? You can change them completely, just by changing the condiment you put on them -- I always have them leave off the sour cream, because I once got HORRIBLY sick from Taco hell sour cream, and no tomatoes because I can't digest them properly... but lots of lettuce and cheese, and either a) taco sauce, or b) ranch dressing -- they're great either way!

I think I started growing up when I realized that I was never going to be the person my ex wanted, and I'd be a hellacious lot happier if I stopped trying to be someone I wasn't. Then I met my (current) husband, and how cool, he liked me, then loved me, just the way I am, warts and drugs and alcohol and all. :D We've both grown and improved as we've grown older -- no more drugs and alcohol! -- but we did it together, because it was the right thing and right time to do it.

All y'all got it wrong. QUESARITOS. And a cheesy gordita crunch. But mainly the quesaritos.

My husband likes the gordita things. But the only thing for me is always going to be CHALUPAS.

I used to love the Baja Gorditas. Always got them with steak. Then they decided to discontinue them. Ugh!
Y'all would have to talk about food here today when I'm doing the prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow and can't have food. I've just started drinking my 238gms of Miralax missed in 64oz of Gatorade :blech:. Shits about to get real! Pun intended. :giggle:

Most human females can give birth, not a big deal there.
Well nothing compared to being a mother to your spawn for the rest of their life.
Which is a very hard job to do right and no one gets it exactly right.
Not sure that there is an exactly right way to do it....

You do the best you can with what you are, what you have, and what pops out of you. :D

And that's not an easy thing to do. So proud of you! That's what I love about you. You are so real and so human. So honest. Straightforward. Intelligent. And many more things that I'm too sleepy to think of before I finish this coffee.

@Atchafalaya Yes I did have a sleepless night. Up and down, up and down...all night long! Lol It's over now though. Got some good sleep thanks to oxygen and good drugs. I had 1 small polyp which she removed and the doctor discovered that I have diverticulosar. I have to be careful with foods with small seeds.

Wow! Same thing with mine! I had 2 polyps, one pre-cancer, and the diverticulosar.
Glad you are done and resting up. Warning -- it will take several days to get back to *normal*.

Yea a coworker of mine almost died from it. He was out of work 2 months and came back skinny. He was really big before he got sick. Had he gone to the doctor when the pain first started though I'm sure it wouldn't have gone so far.

No doubt - Mr Juicy had to have his colon resectioned because of it

And a very dear friend of mine ended up with a colostomy bag by ignoring it

Now that I know it's there and that diverticulitis could be a possibility, I'll be more careful about what I eat. I've pretty much cut corn out of my diet, cucumbers and tomatoes I can remove the seeds before I eat them. Sunflower seeds could be my downfall though because I love them!

Seems like old age is just a matter of progressive starvation, due to the many and various foods we have to stop eating due to our stupid incompetent bodies. We finally reach a point where we can't eat ANYTHING, so we just die of malnutrition.

Reminds me of what my dad use to say. Every once in a while he would get aggravated at the diet the docs had him on and start bitchin that all he is allowed is boiled owl shit. He passed away in 95 but it sounds like not much in dietary has changed since then. Luckily they skipped that step with me. Doc wanted me to discuss a heart diet with a nutritional but the insurance said we dont pay for that so didnt get to chat with them much :teehee:
The real funny part is the nutritionist called me and told me the insurance said they wont pay but thats ok, I can google everything I would need to know....Remember thinking WTF?

And people wonder why obesity is so rampant -- because idiots like those in insurance think nutrition isn't important, so nobody knows the correct way to eat. It ought to be a required course ALL THE WAY THRU SCHOOL!!!

I always heard the cliche "you are what you eat." I couldn't figure it out, because I ate fat CONSTANTLY... but never was fat; until I was in my mid-40s, I looked like a starving refugee no matter how much I ate. But now my gallbladder is filled with gallstones, I have to be VERY careful how much and what kind of fat I eat... and I can't help but wonder if my gross over-indulgence in fat isn't part of the reason why (besides genetics). So I think what it really boils down to is "GIGO" just like with computers -- feed something garbage, garbage is what you'll get in return, even if the metaphor has to be stretched to include FEELING like garbage.

But insurance companies don't think nutrition is important. Maybe because if people ate right, they wouldn't get sick so much or so badly, so the insurance companies wouldn't have much reason to exist -- just like BP doesn't want us to vape, we're preventing them from making megazillion bucks on meds for cancer, asthma, COPD, and all those useless snake-oil smoking-cessation things they sell... etc etc etc...

One of the things in life that irks me is the medical profession. My god what a bunch of crooks. I agree with you Andria that the insurance shouldnt be the ones to decide this but the real absurd part is the nutritionist told me on the phone that everything I need to know can easily be googled. Why do we even have nutritionist if it is that easy? So yeah, on the other hand I can see the insurance side of it too.

Although I know it's NOT every single doctor practicing in the US, there *are* some decent ones -- the guy I've gone to for 20 yrs is a great example -- I can't help buy feel that modern medicine is not in the business of health, it's in the business of disease/disorder -- they aren't given much if any training or education in how to help people be healthy, they're taught only to treat problems -- it's called allopathy, and it's goddamned ass-backward! But it's the model supported by BP's trillions, and they help a lot of folks get training, they control all the substances used in that model, so most docs nowadays think anything other than allopathy is just folklore, hoodoo, crap science. It's a disgrace.

If you ask me, it was a lot better before obamacare was shoved down our throat.

With the ex, her daddy was a criminal. He wasnt very good at it either. Needless to say her family was dirt poor. They didnt have any insurance other than Medicaid and they still dont to this day. Anytime they needed to see a doctor they went to the emergency room, was seen, treated, given free medicine and sent home or admitted depending on what it was. The ex's daddy came down with cancer. Full cancer treatment, free. We had to drive him to New Orleans a couple times a week for months but still the medical cost was free. Towards the end of his treatment he caught pneumonia and was hospitalized in a charity hospital. Then he was moved into an ICU. Then he was dead. Final bill $0

Now years later I am wondering just who was obamacare suppose to help. Here is a family that was dirt poor yet they never had any problems getting medical treatment. In my opinion it did far more harm than it did good. I heard a while back that over 70 mill peeps lost health care because they plain could not afford it with it being obamacare yet all we hear on the news is how less than 20 million peeps will be without insurance with it canceled. I say so what, they can still get all the medical attention they want. And I really dont care if a cross dresser has to pay for their own sex change. I really dont fuckin care at all but I do care that insurance is screwed for garbage like that.

ok, rants over :p

Actually Andria, I think health care is mainly concerned with profit over anything else.

I wonder the same thing Chop. I've been working since I was 16 and cannot even get my epidurals anymore. :( I would have been back to the doctor by now if I could afford it. My left lung still hurts and now there's a stabbing pain. Still out of breath too. I have insurance through my employer. :( Should I go rob a bank?
I had the best ins I could get thru lowes as a full time employee.
Went to get a hernia taken care of.
had to pay $400 for an ultra sound and they wanted me to get an MRI or Cat thing and it was going to be $1,400 so I just gave up until I get medicare and supplement. And this was just prep work, no surgery, etc....
Having employer based insurance does not mean what it did 20-30 years ago.
got Obamacare after retiring and it was a better policy for the same out of my pocket monthly premium but still not A GOOD ONE.
obamacare was just a way to route tax dollars to insurance companies moreso than to benefit the insured.

Another year to go.

I missed it - thought the whining is kinda why we hang out here, lol
Well it wasn't just whining. I was being kind of ugly towards my son and daughter-in-law. I basically posted that I told my son to invite me if they wanted me in their lives but I'm no longer reaching out. That's it in a nutshell

I read it and just my worthless opinion you did the right thing.
Had to do pretty much the same to my son.
he wound up like my first wife, who is his mother...
Used babies as bargaining chips, etc.

Ohh 30-50K less in my wallet I finally convinced the current wife unit.
His habitual lies got to her too.

yeah it sucks but my life has been better since then.

The cost of insurance is ridiculous. I am still under the coverage I had when I was working but that which was once free, and then went to $70 a paycheck ($140/mo), thanks a lot obamacare, is now costing me $500/mo. Yet its damn good insurance and been having the same coverage for 30+ years. With my policy I pay $1500 upfront and the rest is pretty much covered. At the end of this year I will be eligible for medicare and then I will get a supplement to cover what they dont. I hope that will be a lot cheaper than $500/mo.
For a long time single employees where I worked had free health insurance and those with dependents payed around $150/mo. Thanks to Obamacare single employee insurance had a healthy hike, enough where the company passed the additional amount to us the employee's and those with families went up even higher I was told. I know back around 2006/7 I was shopping for insurance for the ex. She was bitchin she had none while I was fully covered. I would of been able to get her the exact same coverage I had at the time for if memory serves, $285/month.

I agree that healthcare should be affordable. Forcing people to pay outrageous rates is not the way to do it. The only way we would ever have affordable health care is if they went after the real problem. The greed of the medical industry. Yet too much money is involved in politics that comes from the doctors groups so of course our politicians would never go after them to make health care affordable. Instead they shafted over the middle class.

Sometimes adult children fail to act like adults towards their parents - they have the same selfish motives towards their parents when they are 30 that they had when they were age 8; they don't act that way towards other adults, but somehow their mind never grows up and they fail to have a mature, adult relationship with their parents because they can't stop acting like 8-year olds

My BIL was that way with my in-laws - drove me crazy - as a 50-year old, six figure income businessman, still put dumb demands on his one-legged father and couldn't see that dad needed help and never once in all the years I've known him would he recognize old-age infirmities or understand why his dad, in the end, could not even take care of himself and owed his son nothing outside of fatherly love
