Leaking Issue TFV12 Prince

Hello , i recently bought myself a new vape ( Smok Mag Kit Prince TFV12 )
I tried 4 types of diffrent coils, currently using V12 Prince-x6
Im using my own DIY Liquid 70/30 Pinkman
But my tank keeps leaking through the airholes at the bottom.
My local store told me its because my liquid is to thin for this tank?

Is this true? I tried evrything to fix this, i even tried to add 100VG to my liquid to make it less thin but it still leaks from time to time so im really lost and need some advice?

Is this really because of my liquid?
Does any1 know how much VG is good for this tank?

Sorry for my language, im from belgium and tried my best to explain
i hope someone here could give me some advice

thanks for reading this and your help !

Welcome to VU!
My Uncle was from Metz (not sure about the spelling), he had a house there, and organized the parking for the Spa Formula 1 races, even took me on a locked up part of the race track. He had the key, in order to take me on that part of the track. Hell Yeah, that was fun!

Regarding your juice, you've mentioned 70/30. However, what is the VG/PG? Is it 70 PG, or VG? Do you close the airflow before filling the tank? (Most tanks will leak some juice, unless the airflow has been closed prior to filling.) More VG, as you already know, will make the juice thicker, thus harder to wick. The TFV tanks are designed for cloud chasers. Therefore, the designers are expecting thicker juices (more VG).

Hello, thanks for your quick reply

Im using 70 Vg 30 Pg and i always close the airholes when filling. But it just keeps leaking. So " cloud chasers" requires more vg?
How much VG would you recommend ?

Well, when you buy pre made juice, that's supposed to be max VG, most of the time it's 80 VG, 20 PG, which should work well. I make my own juice, usually at 90VG/10PG.

I personally have a few TFV4 tanks, but never had any leaking problems, no matter of what coil I've used. However, I switched to using rebuildable Attys only, due to being tired of buying replacement coils, therefore wasting money. Building my own coils, gives me controll over the material used, and the quality of the coil.

Im used to making my own juice aswel at 70VG 30 PG , i guess i need to go to the store tommorow and buy me some 90VG/10 PG juice
Hope that will do the trick and solve my issue. thanks for helping me out here !

You probably won't easily find 90VG/10PG juice at any store.
Another thing, regarding the leaking, make sure, to close the airflow before filling the tank! In addition, make sure all the O-rings aren't damaged. When tightening the connections, don't over tighten, 'cause it can damage the O-ring(s). Sometimes, condensation is misunderstood as leaking. Make sure to maintain your tanks properly, e. g. cleaning, checking the O-rings for damage, etc.

I have the same isseu
Its not the juice its the seal from the coil there a Tiny peaces wire sticking out

Try to gently push them back so the rubber seal can do its job like its ment to be

Sorry for the bad englisch im from Holland

One other thing that is important to prevent leaking: try to achieve a good balance of airflow to how you are drawing on the tank. This is hard to put into words, but essentially, if you draw too hard, you pull too much juice into the coil and it WILL flood and leak. For sub-ohm, make sure you have plenty of air flowing through the tank, and draw very lightly on it. Change the way you draw or your airflow, just keep working with it until you get it set right for you.

Good luck,

Jane

When I first started using the TFV12 I had similar issues. For me I was tightening it down too hard. This process works for me pretty good, maybe it will help you.

Installing an oil filter-
Rub a little juice on the rubber seal, Thread it in 1/4 turn past tight. Back it out and thread it back in snug. (leave out the last 1/4 turn past tight)
Then I shine a flashlight through the air holes and make sure the seal is flat. If its in too tight it starts to curl up like a pringle and will leak.

I'm currently having this issue... I've reviewed all of your inputs but none seem to correct the issue.

The one thing I believe is causing this issue now (after much trial and error) is the rubber gasket in the quick fill section.

It has happened 3 times now, where the silicon gasket has expanded beyond its normal size. And when you force it in, and try to close the quick connect it doesn't make a tight seal. This is allowing air to pass down into the tank, and leaking out through the coil.

I went back to the shop, but the guy didn't have any input into the matter. Now I know what this issue is, I've been searching for ways around this... and continuing to purchase said gasket every 3 days is not going to work...

Anybody have any further suggestions... if not, I may discard and buy something else. Such a waste of money though... as I cannot take it back

Is this a genuine article? I have 3 TFV12's and for all the little picky issues they can have this is not one I have experienced with them. Silicon is not prone to deforming even after many cycles of very high heat. With this being at the top of the tank it is improbable you could get it hot enough to deform, unless it wasn't silicon.

You are not cleaning this tank in boiling water are you?

Haha, no... not boiling it.

I'm not sure what it is that is causing it to swell or deform. All I know is that that is what is happening. I do clean it ever week, but I only use a paper towel to clean the silicon gasket. The rest of the device I use isopropyl alcohol.

Sounds bizarre really. Maybe someone else will have experienced this because I got nothing on this tank. I have had other problems with this particular tank but never the one you experience. Silicone is pretty high temp and it would be difficult to get the top of the tank hot enough to make it deform. Alcohol is not known to break down silicone either so it shoudlnt be a solvent issue.

Is this a genuine tank and genuine parts?

Aye, right out of the box. Went through both the original and the backup gasket. Then I had to buy a replacement gasket... I've put it on the back burn for now and am using a new, different tank... the Falcon

There have been a couple mentions in other forums, but no answers... and it seems as though this thread was almost similar as all the previous mentions is what I thought it was to (But nobody was able to confirm those fixes worked, so I mention what I've read and experienced). With all the leaking that has happened with my prince tank, I'd rather not lose any more premium juice. So my new tank isn't a quick fill like the prince or beast. I think I'm gonna stay away from that style of tank at least for now.

But I can see where you're coming from. My buddy has the beast, and never had any problems for as long as he's had is... which I think has been since the beast came out. Maybe my prince tank, and those others who mentioned it got a bad prince... who knows... Just searching for answers.

QC is not one of Smok's strong points so it is entirely possible you have some weird defect. Hope the Horizon tank works out better for you.

I was buying some juice and was told by the clerk that some flavors are more acidic than others and they can cause that silicone to swell.

Good looking out. A while back I won a Prince V8 stick kit. No problems at all with the M4 coils.

More recently I won a X-Priv kit. It comes with the Tfv12 Prince too. This one came with different coils. I can already tell the pre-installed Q4 is going to be trouble. Looking at it through the AF control, the connector isnt sitting flush. Theres some very rigid wire making the bottom gasket and connector(?) sit tilted. Here's a pic-

Something's gotta be done about it I think or it'll leak all over. But like I said, the wire is stiff AF kinda thick. I'll try pushing them back a ways but be mindful at the same time.
Edit- I circled what I'm talking about-

Just look at that crap. That's exactly why I stay away from Smok gear.

My son now has this tank, the Prince. He went to fill it yesterday with some DIY juice I'd brought him, and when he went to close the swivel top, the side of it got caught on the gasket, which had moved out of place (possibly been PULLED out of place when he opened the top of the tank). He had to take my husband's pocket knife and use the tip of it to reseat that gasket before he could even get the damn thing closed again.

I can't for the life of me understand why their products are so popular. They just have a very wide distribution network, I guess, in the places where new vapers show up to buy gear. Jeez. Frustrating.

Ugh, not sure why this is the only thing I haven't checked yet as I saw this on one of the previous coils, but thought I had inserted it incorrectly and caused this to it. Currently finishing my 3rd fill in the last 12 hours, it usually lasts me three days, and will be taking it apart, yet again, and will check this. Thank you.

Although, in saying this, the last coil I had in that worked well, 4th time's the charm?, it was leaking for a day and a half then something changed and it seemed to seal itself and was fine for 2 weeks when I changed it and now can't seem to get it right. Even after hunting all over the net for a fix. I've primed, changed all the rings, even bought a new tank just in case the one that came with the X-Priv was faulty.

Smok gets a bad rap. I've got a bunch of their stuff and am completely happy with it. The Prince tanks are among the elite in performance. They're popular here because they've made some awesome stuff over the years.

Sorry for replying to myself, but after trying everything I just thought what the hell I have obtained a baby Prince and it leaked from the first time tried everything 3 times then thought what the hell had previously removed the coil seal as well washed soaked it in boiling water pressed the wires down harder and reassembled the thiker wire only the other is really thin baby Q4 coil 30-65 watt one so finally i disassembled it only take the metal hat off the first wire you see will be the thick one(now you need really sharp mini side cutters recommend coil master ones now trim the about 3/4 to 1mm off there should still be about 2-3 mm left from the center but this will put the coil wire well inside the metal cap reassemble and my leak has gone well so far anyway level is still where it was an hour ago before that was emptying within a short while so there you go don't try and use shitty side cutters cause you'll prob end up with a mess there are heaps of you tube videos with the procedure it isnt hard even with my failing eyesight but I didn't attempt it at tight cause I wouldn't be able to see it happy vaping hope this helps you guys who can't solve the leak issues

Hey all, I had the same problem too when I first got the TFV12 Prince tank...it literally poured juice all over my lap! However, someone posted this online: "Unscrew the coil from the tank. There is a tiny clear rubber band on the chimney stack that connects to your coil. Remove that and your leaking will stop". Solved my problem immediately. Hope this helps!
