Can't prime coils!!

I only started about a month ago. I bought a cleito aspire tank and I have a horrible time priming it. I put my juice on the 3 piece of exposed filter, fill my tank and let it sit for atleast 30 minutes. The problem is it tastes like shit and gurgles. I unscrewed the coil several times to rethread it,let it sit longer and it's still an awful burnt cotton taste. I have the .4 ohm cartridge and I usually vape at 30W but always start at like 15 and hit it a few times [10ish] and move it up to 30 watts. I had it replaced at the local vape store and everything was great right away and lasted 2 weeks, [120 ml] ish. The usual blend I vape are 70/30. What the hell am i doing wrong? I burned through about 4 coils and I'm getting a little discouraged even after watching 100 YouTube videos

Who knows, did you buy them from a authentic store, not ebay?

Did you pour juice down into the coil too?

They take a lot of juice to prime correctly.

I bought them from the local store and I put a few drops down the middle of the ?airflow tube? Usually take a few dry hits with the airflow closed and open the top to let the bubbles out and then let it sit

Those coils can soak up a LOT of juice by pouring it down the center of the coil.

You should pour some juice into the coil at the top. After it sits for awhile....take hits off the atty with the airflow closed, without pushing the fire button, that will suck more juice into the coil.

Or,,, You accept the judgement of the universe and accept the need for an RTA ;-P

That's OK, the universe is patient.. implacable..

They do sell pre-wound coils, so all you need is a good choice, wick and snippers.

Good luck!

Nah, wrapping a simple coil isn't difficult. If I can, you can. When the time comes that you might feel ready to move on to those, the forum will be here. As was mentioned with your current tank, put a few drops on the cotton, at the top of the coil, let it soak in, do it again, let it soak in. They do hold a lot of juice, just be careful not to flood it, or it'll leak or get gurgly on ya.

Good luck, and welcome

I will definitely look into it. I just put quite a few drops down the center and it lured out of the airflow vents lol. So I closed them up and going to switch to the original tank that came with the tarot nano. But I will add a few more drops on the center again and try it again tomorrow. I started this to stop smoking and save money but so far I've spent more on this stuff lol

I think many of us share that experience. It does pay off in the long run. I firmly believe that I've still spent less than I ever did on smoking.

Not uncommon for .4 Cleito coils to act like that. What I've found is that the .4 coils don't much like being vaped at much under 40w, their minumum rating. Aspire seems to rate their coils pretty accurately. So try it at 40 to 45w. Even then they're likely to gurgle a bit. If it still bothers you then try the .27 coils. Not easy to find, but they do exist. They don't last as long, about a week or so, but they don't gurgle as much if at all. You're priming them right and breaking them in correctly. Just fiddle with em a little more, you'll figure it out. That or get an RTA or RDA as others have suggested.

Welcome @Frustratednoob and I hope you enjoy your stay~!

1st piece of advise I can offer is that Gurgling is caused by a flooded coil in my opinion. To clear a flooded coil blow backwards and put a tissue or paper towel around Air Inlet. Now I am not patient to wait for coils to prime and have found flooding them and covering the airholes can force e-Liquid back thru the coil and helps it prime. Also always start at lower wattage and work your way up with a new coil. Once the cotton burns in a coil it is toast and time to toss it. Good Luck
