We put a hand crank pump on a water barrel. My stupid husband got one made for diesel. It quit working. If I can find one online for water, that might help with the well.

Or use a trash pump, gas powered, not for the barrel but to draw from the river or well if it isn't too far down to water

It just occurred to me that I have a small pump that fits on a hand drill that allows standard water hoses to be connected to both the IN and OUT connections. That would be considerably cheaper than the big hand-crank types.

I have used those pumps.
Just need some plastic pipe a few fittings a shutoff hose bib for the output of the pump and a foot valve with strainer about $200 worth of stuff.
I am assuming that you can get 120V electricity to the pump.

if the water is that shallow a pump like this would work. would just need some pipe to go down below the water level and a foot valve/strainer.

I have seen water up to about 8 feet down the hole.
That would be a pretty shallow well and subject to going dry in drought conditions. My well is 300 feet down (deep aquifer) and our water actually is an underground river created by snow melt in Alberta. One of my neighbors (rancher a couple miles down the road) has a 50-foot well and often runs dry in August.

During the dry season, I cannot see the bottom, even with a high powered flashlight.
I found a hand crank pump on Amazon I may just get for under $60.

We were told this house was built some time between the 1920s and the 1950s. It's the only house in the neighborhood with turbines on the roof. We have 2. Nothing was insulated. We insulated the attic. I covered up the asbestos with siding that helps insulate. We replaced some of the double hung windows that were rotting. The iron weights come in handy for some projects.

Not to good Lucy it's bone on bone and a tore ACL been that way for years I just don't trust any doctor (had my share of goes with them) so been making due.

@Jimi, I hear you about orthopedic doctors. I feel the same way. Had my go-rounds with them as well. In the beginning of my mess, I got a lot more help from a physical therapist than I ever got from the doctors. I will say I hope your problem resolves, but perhaps more appropriately, I'll say I hope you can find a way to stay comfortable and not injure it any worse. It's hard to take once it gets to the point that you're hurting all the time, even when you aren't standing or walking.

Good morning, everyone. Been up since 3:30 am. Just wide awake then, and with a headache. Had to get up. So I'll regret that about 4 this afternoon when I still have an hour of work to go and I'm struggling to stay awake. Coffee time.

Oh yeah - it would be perfect except its an 810

EDIT: I ordered several from around the intrawebs that might work out - if none of those match, I will cease going overboard with the matchy-matchy nonsense, lol

Hey @JuicyLucy not sure I think the "matchy matchy" is nonsense, if it bothers you to not have things match. It bothers me in odd ways. Purses and wallets, other leather or textile items I carry in my purse. Stresses me out when they don't match. Husband thinks I'm nuts about that, but he's got his own oddness when it comes to consistency. I said something in another thread about playing musical tanks when a new mod showed up the other day - go through that every time. Does everyone? I don't know, but probably, at least to some extent.

Also with drip tips, dang, how much difference they make to how a tank draws! Don't think I'll ever feel wrong about being OCD about a drip tip.

Good morning everybody. Hope you slept well.

Thanks for your kind response. :)

Re coffee, I love it too, although not the standard fare that it seems most younger people like these days. No Starbucks for me, thanks. I drink a not-very-dark Italian roast made one cup at a time in my little soft-pod coffee maker, or I make a whole pot in my 1960s pot-bellied electric percolator that I found on eBay. Usually only do that on days that the hubbs and I are both at home; otherwise I waste half of it.

Finally quit snowing here.
Snowed most of the day but no accumulation as it was a bit above freezing.
Supposed to get down to 27 tonight though.
