Vapor leaving residue?

So, I am a dripper, I dump the clouds in my car everyday, but I started to notice that my windshield is getting a little foggy, and I can't rub it off with my hand nor a towel.. I tried both sides and it's stuck! I was thinking that it was the vapor leaving a sticky type substance on the windshield. Is this possible? And if so, how TF do I get it off?

Yep and it's annoying as hell!
Still trying to find a good solution but I have yet to come up with anything that is practical.
Wasted some money on the rainx antifog the other day. That shit didn't help one bit.
I'm kinda thinkin just good ol' fashion windex and paper towels.
If you do come up with a solution I know lots of us would love to hear it.
And if I ever come up with one I'll be damn sure to post it.
In the mean time, vape safe, drive safe ;)

I was thinking windex would be the best to use for now. In the meantime I'll create a mixture of vape residue destroyer, cause I am very annoyed of this! :p
It is most likely VG. I just spray it with distilled water.

You can also try water and vinegar.
I use water and vinegar to remove hard water, I'll give that a try as well! I'll let you all know how they work for me!

Gotta cut through the vg. If windex doesn't work well enough, maybe an alcohol/water mix.

Be carful if you have tinted windows.

Windex will turn them purple!

That's interesting is the same thing happening in my lungs?
And also, I beleive vg is what leaves the residue, so having vg (vegetable glycerin) in your lungs can't be any worse than the nicotine you inhale.

Ammonia hurts plastic film tint. That's why there is ammonia free windex and other glass cleaners made for tinted windows. If I'm not mistaken, pro window cleaners use an alcohol/water mix they make themselves. Even LCD screen cleaner is just rubbing alcohol.

Per a friend/fellow vaper (she's a nurse practitioner), our lung tissue absorbs the VG into our blood and it is metabolized out through our liver after any nutritional content is extracted (Unfortunately she tells me that the nutritional value of vapor is negligible at best).
So basically, yes, it does leave a residue that is constantly being broken down and absorbed into our bodies like any other organic substance.

I started a thread several days ago on car windows that might give you more ideas...

Good luck!

If it was, it's still better than having tar and many other chemicals caked to those pink lungs!

As I understand it your lung tissue can metabolize VG .

Within limits.

Actually no. Alcohol is only added in cold months to stop your water from freezing. we use pro cleaning agents that are residue free. Some use dawn, or other types of dish soap, but they are hacks. Dawn leaves a film on windows.

Yes, there are things you could use (pro products) to treat your glass, but the expenses to a consumer is cost prohibitive.

Yes, ammonia does screw up film tints.

Alcohol is a solvent, so mixing half a quart in with distilled water (to make a gallon of cleaner) will work for this purpose. Just mist it on with a spray bottle. Use CLEAN microfiber cloths.

I wiped the residue from the inside of my windshield with a dry t-shirt the other day, and it came right off.

The guy I know said he experimented with stuff and found a certain mix of alcohol and water worked well. I think he was trying to avoid the high cost of 'pro cleaners' and found a cheap solution. It worked and he got paid. ;)

I've been using paper towels and Windex on my work truck that I vape in constantly. It works perfect.

It was raining here recently, and - unusually - all the windows in my house were closed for a few days. Today I noticed to my horror that every window AND mirror in my house is smeary LOL That's just annoying - now I have to break out the Windex:eek:

No one has tried black and white newspaper?
Old school print newspaper is the best. Been using that for years on my windows.

Its the secret to how them bums in NY get your car windows so damn clean. ;-)

I was having the same problem, and I was really bummed out after Windex didn't do anything but move it around and create swirls which made the problem worse--I was afraid there would be no more vaping on my way to and from work! Then, I went to AutoZone and picked up some Armor All windshield wipes, that have some kind of synthetic cleaner, and they it took it right off.

Synthetic? LOL. No.... It's higher in alcohol content.

Likely, what is working best, is the towel you are using. It is absorbing the VG.

No doubt it is working better for you. I'm just trying to explain why it is.

You could put rainX windshield protector on your interior glass too. That would stop the VG from getting into the microscopic valleys of the glass, and make it easier to clean.

The rainx don't work for shit.

It still smeared?
The Rainx applies just as it should. But even then the vape film still accumulates just as it did before the rainx.
Even tried the rainx anti fog formula too and no better results.
I had hopes for the rainx as a repellent for the film but no such luck

and yeah, still all smeary

One problem with window cleaning, as a business, is using a sealer on glass that gets fingerprints. If you seal the glass, finger prints are a BITCH to remove. So, I'll assume the VG has much the same properties as the oils in your fingers.

So, what we do to remove them, is BUFF with a dry micro fiber cloth. CLEAN MF cloth.

Perhaps the answer for some is, to clean with windex the best you can. Let dry, and then buff with the MF cloth.

I hit my windshield with Windex the other day and it worked well enough. Between the cold weather, and the vape residue, I was having to bend down to see through a tiny spot on my windshield. Much better now.

Propylene glycol n-butyl ether is the ingredient, which is a solvent--it is not a high concentration of alcohol. It rather stinks, but the smell subsides pretty quickly.

LOL

I keep Windex and micro fiber towels in my car because I vape in it a lot. And it has become a necessity because it gets so bad you can hardly see out of it

I really need to do this. I drive for a living, and I chain vape while driving. So, yeah, it gets bad.

How about windex on tinted windows? Anyone have issues with that? I usually use a decent sized microfiber and get one half damp. Wipe with the damp part then with the dry part. But you have to use some elbow grease on the thick larts

I've discovered that Windex makes Wipes. They come in a plastic resealable pouch, much like baby wipes. They're convenient to keep in your car console. A couple of them will clean ALL of your interior window surfaces (unless you drive a big SUV or a minivan, I suppose). I first found them at Walgreens but discovered they're cheaper at our local grocery store.

I'm beginning to think that just like vaping, this is one of those "IMO" things. Personally, I have used just straight rubbing alcohol, it destroyed the smudges. Left a horrid smell though.. I wanna mix alcohol with water and maybe something that smells great. Cause these smudges whoop my ass in the winter.

I googled some more recipes. This one might be worth trying - the author tried 4 different formulas:
Alvin Corn Homemade Glass Cleaner
  • 1/4 c. rubbing alcohol
  • 1/4 c. white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 c. warm water
Combine everything in a spray bottle, and shake well. Shake well before using, too, as the cornstarch might settle at the bottom (and subsequently plug the spray mechanism if it’s not mixed in well).

Cornstarch and tap water can leave residues on glass. Drop both and use distilled water instead.
In reality, Vinegar isn't needed, unless you have a calcium problem with your glass.

No, not trying to be a know it all. I do own a window cleaning business though, so I am not uninformed.

I don't know, maybe it's the PG that's hard to get clean. I vape max VG and can wipe my car windows clean(enough for me) with a dry paper towel.

I have had zero issues from vape residue, in any vehicles I or my wife drive.

Seriously. I squirt on some windex and wipe off with paper towels, and buff with a dry MF cloth.

My wife uses glass cleaning wipes only in her Hummer.
I vape anything from MAX vg to 75VG/25PG.

It always cleans up fine, and no smears.

Get a bowl of hot water. Chuck 3 tea bags in and cool. Wipe entire window with a sponge, rinsing in the tea water. Wipe dry with newspaper. The Tanin in tea cuts through the film that builds up on glass. Your car/house windows will never be cleaner.

Its no worse than the residue from smoking in the car to me. Better, in fact, since it doesn't smell like an ashtray anymore.

Oh, and I hit the windows with window cleaner as usual, let them dry, then rub the glass with a clean balled up pair of socks to remove any remaining streaks. The balled up socks give you something to grab, while keeping your greasy fingers off of the clean glass while wiping. YMMV.

Brilliant! I always have balled-up socks around. They're my dogs' favorite toys.

Use Xon-R8, it has been made to remove that film. You can find it on RBA Supplies

Hey guys the.anwser is really quite simple The VG (PG also) is condensing on your windows. So think like a vapor !!! We need to build some coils onto those puppys and heatem up. Shit with a constant charging 12V battery at our disposal we can recycle our vape and increase our not smoking savings.
