So in the past I had a Mech Mod that was just way over the top to much vape for me. I gave up and went back to cigarettes. Now I bought the Juul to try and quit it’s definately working. I haven’t had a cigarette in a while but I am vaping my Juul basically constantly. Also my throat is getting used to the vape.
My question when I go to upgrade should I go right to a high end set up or should I go to Aspire Breeze as a stepping stone?

Been learning the hard way in life, better to crawl before you run. :) I would move up to the Aspire Breeze first. No sense in you diving into murky deeps and risk getting tossed back to cigarettes.

Although, ... *grin*

I might suggest the Innokin Smartbox to you as well. It looks to be a decent kit without a user having to face whitewater too quick. Innokin makes good quality gear. You'll need spare 18650 batteries and a charger for it. Get two of those to start, one to use and one to charge in rotation. Here's a good starting out charger too.

If you're set on the Aspire Breeze kit, go for that. :) I was offering a bit different simply to possibly offer you more charge time to vape on. Four to six hours will probably be all you'll get to use the Breeze until it needs recharged. I sometimes get about two days of use on an 18650, depending on how hard i'm vaping. Ultimately though, this is your choice. Take it as fast or slow as you want. :)

Please understand I'm not an affiliate nor do I get any compensation for products or vendors I may suggest. My suggestions are that only, suggestions. These are my opinion based only on my experiences and perceptions, observations. Take of them what you need discard what you don't.

I always suggest a simple MOD and an MTL Tank for new vapers. I started with an iStick TC40W and a Nautilus Mini which are still in use today. Although the iStick is my back up carry battery, I always have the Nautilus Mini with me and use it every day. Still Sub Ohm vaping at 100 Watts and 400°F during the day or with a simple Wattage Sub Ohm tank. The iStick gave me the ability to go further on my vaping journey without buying a mew MOD. Just my opinion from 1st hand experience. Now I have custom made DNA Boxes and many other devices but still carry that iStick people said would never last.

Ok the Innoken Smartbox, can the tank be changed? This may be a better starting point as it would probably last longer then the Breeze would for long term use.

Yeah, it says you can use any atomizer as long as it's a 510 screw in type. You might even look at an RDA if you feel like it instead of a tank. I used to use those Evod style tanks myself. I would use an adapter on some the box mods, it fit into the 510 connector and let me screw the Ego threaded Evod tanks on.

Now, those Evod style tanks are gathering dust. *chuckles* I've gotten away from using tanks. I use a mech squonker and RDAs now, which for me works out real well. No need to follow me here until, or if you ever figure you're ready, ... again all to your choice. What that means though is I'm not probably too keen to suggest a 'good' tank for you. I know a few good RDAs though.

A Velocity V2 is what I started on really with building coils, using an RDA. It is a 22 mm diameter deck. That made it easier for me to build on with arthritis and fits of nerves acting up, lack of patience. If you can get the foundations of building a fair coil, proper wicking, size of an RDA really doesn't matter too much. You can get an RDA to give up some clouds and carry flavor to you. I aim for about the middlin in vaping. I'm not really a cloud chaser or flavor fiend, I fall into the cracks. :)

But yes, long as ya got the little screw in nub on the bottom of a tank, or an RDA you can swap it out for the mod in this kit. :) You could say use an Aspire hm, Nautilus on this mod if you like. I recall from moons back there was a bit of hub bub saying that was a good tank. Never used it meself so won't say yay or nay, only that i read/heard it was a good 'un. *grin*

If you want some cheap deals and got no mind to use only authentic gear you might look on that FastTech site the Velocity V2 is on. ;) :) Do not order in February, that whole month is several various Chinese holidays, vacations. Come March 1st though they get right back to work. One of the holidays from what i read is their day/week to honor their ancestors. Cannot really hold that against them. Another week they use for family time, house keeping, maintaining stuff, planting gardens. They folks like us. :)

Well I got to scoot on. Need to get to my housework too. *chuckles* Wife'll be punishing me by taking away my birthday. :)    :) :) :) Ifin' I gives ya extry hugs, ye ken pass 'em 'long. :) Run 'er slow.

I agree with simple mod and Nautilus. There's about 3 diff Nautilus'. the old original 5ml that was thee go to MTL when it came out and still a great one. Also Nautilus Mini, same thing but smaller, and the 2 - again same thing just a little diff - top fill and 2ml. Nautilus 2 / 2ml is easiest to fill but the original holds 2 1/2x as much, so up to user.
To me the simple mod with longevity to progress through different tanks/atties/atomizers without having to buy more mods (except if you wanted a back-up) would be a variable wattage / regulated mod. I'll even suggest a dual battery mod so you can run the day without swapping batteries and down the road if you run at higher wattage, 50-60, you won't have to change the single 18650 2+ x a day. Single or dual, one with wattage adjustments keeps you in control of the vape your atty will produce, instead of a set wattage determined by the device. You can get a good 2 battery charger for about $13.
Costs a little more up front this way, 2 battery mod + 4 batteries @ $6ea and that 2 battery charger - but its an investment, ease of use, and saves in the long run.

Nautilus' coil options and I think there's 3 + its airflow adjustments, coupled with a variable wattage mod, gives you a broad range of control over the vape experience. If you wanted it to be like the Breeze, you could, if you wanted it to be more, you could. And what about the big role the juice plays. No pods to buy, and no limited flavors or nic levels. The world is your store.

Another question. An RDA is built a bit like a drip tip but instead of adding juice directly to the cotton, the cotton folds down into a tank right?

Pretty much has a build deck, a sleeve or collar, and drip tip. Some come with a hollowed out pin down the center (the one that makes contact with the mod) so that you can squonk juice up to the deck/wick, or drip from top, with standard pin > you drip from the top. When you drip from the top the juice hits the coil/cotton and any extra can stay in the well. The folded down cotton lives in the "well" of the deck where there may be room for some juice to reside.

Man I wanna say I'm liking this thread a lot. Even tho I have no idea about mtl of/and ego/aion stick and pod devices other than tried it but don't like it. Sadly I was one of these local vape store victims that got sold the biggest cloud chasing setup because it made more money, than actual listening to me and selling me something I would have been happier with.

It was this forum that made me stick with vaping and experimenting different things, but I do believe if I've gotten a simple no none sense setup right from the start, I would have had a much easier time. I love it now and got used to DL big clouds extreme flavor good hart hitting mod and higher watt temperature setups, but man was that a trip of even getting there.

So here is one of these topics we get ask a lot and mostly the advice is the same I got from my local store, go big or go home, I'm so happy to see these people giving suggestions actually are helpful and showing you the other side of vaping lol because at the end of the day, we all have the same goal but its a matter of how pleasant or unpleasant your route might or will be. Keep it up guys :)

I've never walked into a B&M yet that was worth my time.

Yeah, I can also confirm the istick 100w and TC100w are both workhorses for the pennies... I gave the pico to my boss, (was planning to give it to his wife, but ok - whatever works 0 she's happy with the mini Bomber and a supercheap tank & heads I got from FT - he's rocking my old R91%)

Solid advice. Can appreciate & respect your point of view. I prefer a mech though. Call me a simple Luddite. If a regulated mod's chip fries you got a 'brick', at least in my view. That to me lends affinity for the mechs. I can usually finagle and or fix one of them and continue vaping. Again though, I see the pros you point out as well. Valid points too. Not arguing nor debating merely offering a different view. I'm not saying any one view over any other view/s is/are correct, or wrong.

I am glad vaping allows us all our choice. :)

Currently, I'm sporting a simple and to me a little 22 mm NaRDA on a CopperVape. I think the present single coil I got in it is hitting around ~ 0.30 - 0.50 ohms. Yes, I know that's a big variance. I discovered though via experience in building if I wrapped my coils to 5 wraps 3 mm inner diameter, I usually come out to around 0.30 +/- 0.0.02 ohms That was before my ohm meter crapped out on me. *chuckles* So, I know I'm at least 0.30 and know fluctuation might bump me to up around 0.32 ohm or so, or the coil gets gunked and starts 'wigging out' to 0.40 ohms, so this is why I'm saying .3 to .5.

Yep, that's little to me. :) And I don't get room filling cloudz brah, but I get some nice cloud once in a bit. I get a lot of flavor but not so much that's all there is to my juice. Nutshell, I'm getting the nicotine without 40,000 other harsh chemicals. go me, go! it's my birfday! go, go, go me, go! :)

ETA: Ha! I winz the Interwebz too. I used 3 so's in my reply, makes me a so so and so. Ha Ha!

Yeah. I've had horrible luck with mechs. Too many crappy "tubes". The NC is my all-time fav mech, with FD magnetic switch. The Hugo is just awfully handy when you want something disposable, or you have to screw around with the regulated setups. Nice and reliable, if anemic.

Just an FYI - there are a number of old time vapers around here who have given up their high end, larger setups and now vape the Juul exclusively

While the Juul is not the most economical route, it really delivers for some folks

I got one for my Mr who still smokes. I took one drag off the Juul and never touched it again because it so closely mimicked a cigarette, it really knocked me for a loop, lol

They sell juuls at our local gas station and I almost bought one today. I've been curious about the hype for a while now but can't bring myself to buy something that will more than likely end up in a drawer with my mi one after a day or two.

Try it and see if you like it

I was only trying to point out that some people find it completely satisfying and after trying just about everything out there, are now vaping the Juul exclusively

Wish they'd had it available when I was trying to quit smoking with vaping - would cut a year or two off that process, lol

That's the way of vaping too. Everyone finds what works for them. What works for say @JuicyLucy, might not work for me or vise versa. There is no set in stone correct or only way to vape. Once you find what works for you that's your right way to vape, don't think your right way is @SteelDriver's or @The Cromwell's, @f1r3b1rd 's right way to vape, know they don't think their right way is your right either. All anyone can do is offer handy advice, or some bit of their own experience which is often opinion or preference.

Speaking of @The Cromwell , ... Hey Bob, why did you let me go so long before getting my grub digging paws on this Wasp Nano? I've tried a few 510 drip tips on it & think I like it without any drip tip. Put a fresh built all SS 26/30 wrapped Clapton on it at 5 wraps ID, figure it's doing between .3 to .5 roughly from past building that has done that range. Not got anything to check on presently which I feel a heel over but life is what it will be.

Also I like the open funnel shaped bore drip tips on the Wasp. I do not like the narrow straight bore ones on there.

Could not agree with this more!

Everyone has their own way to enjoy vaping. That’s the best part of the hobby, imho.
That’s also why a lot us try and use the phraseology “I enjoy, in my opinion....”

You have not been paying to my posts on the subject of the Wasp nano.

No, I actually have been reading your praises of the Wasp Nano. :) It has taken a bit to get a chance to get one to try for myself. I especially like how the capturing of wire is set up in them. Pretty slick means to doing it.

Yes, I kind of figured as much regarding tips. The ones I tried were the narrow straight bores, both were too tall for my preference.

I don't know much about current hardware, but just wanted to welcome you back to vaping! Sounds like maybe this time will be the charm. You've definitely come to the right place to get good advice on hardware, so hang in there! Vaping really can set you free from smoking! It can be a real challenge to get started and stay with it, but completely worth it. :)

LOL..when I started vaping there were always the guys who thought that if they bought the most expensive exclusive gear like say a "caravela" it would give them the "best" vape. they usually wound up selling the thing 6 months latter....just to turn around and buy the next most expensive exclusive mod or atty on the market...and with the same results.....there is no sense in plunking down a fat roll over vape gear until you know why you are spending a fat roll on vape gear....when you can make a lousy 30.00 atty really sing, then you are ready for a 200.00 atty..I vaped on a 25.00 atty for a year before dropping 130.00 on the next one....there is plenty of inexpensive gear that will give you a great vape.

Just passing thru.. Stopped in a shop today after a few hours of surfing the web. Walked in on the owner trying to sell an older couple on one of those "badges" - and, right there on the sign with it: Nic Salts. This is the huge "draw" on the Juul stuff.

Apparently, the Nic Salts are the huge draw to the funky little badge & pen mods today. Never messed with them myself, but apparently their chemistry is such that you vape like 1/2-1/4 what you consider "normal" mg/ml, and the nicotine bindings slam the nic right to the brain w/o a time delay.

Personally, I plan to avoid them - too many crazy people already - but I can see where some diehard smokers would find this the "short cut" to cessation.

Might be good for that first one in the morning; that was the hardest smoke for me to get rid of, until I finally figured out that puffing a vape like crazy like it's a cigarette is no way to get nicotine; it can't be rushed, you just have to take your time and be patient -- which isn't too easy when you're half asleep and want it NOW. :D When I first switched, I used to vape a slightly higher nic level, first thing in the morning, and a lower nic level in the last few hrs before bed. I knew smoking was a thing of the past when I was able to vape the same nic level all the time. :)

True. I started out mixing around 36mg/ml and still was at least bumming smokes.. Took about 2 years of mixing the two and watching smokes skyrocket in price before I could taper back the both; then it took about 3 months to stop bumming butts.

I was down to about 20mg/ml after the 2 years; then a year of about 12mg; I was around 8 or 10 until I got my Gbox this year - I had to go back and dilute my mix down to about 3mg/ml, (and man, that screwed up the flavor I had). Now, both the DNA200 mod and the Gbox seem to be satisfying well - my nic-stash should be good for another couple years.

Not bad for an ex handroller that chain smoked filterless, added an occasional cigar, and has a collection of meerchaum pipes.. Although, I really miss some of the thick, flavorful pipe tobaccos.

My son misses cigars and clove cigarettes more than the Camels he smoked most of the time; I told him we could try to find some flavors to mix to substitute for those, so that maybe he wouldn't long for them so much. I managed a fairly authentic (his opinion) version of Camel for him when he first switched, using FA's Desert Ship, Bitter Wizard, and Inawera Virginia tobacco absolute.

I'd hate to imagine trying to substitute vaping for such a high level of tobacco/nicotine use as you had; I'd smoked ultra-lights for about the last 20 yrs of my 39 yrs as a smoker, and the cold that was my main reason for getting interested in an INDOOR alternative had motivated me to cut down from my usual pack or pack and a half a day to about 10-15 smokes a day. But that had its downside too -- ultra-lights don't have much nicotine, but they do have all the other aspects that make quitting so damn difficult, so I could never use more than about 10mg for "regular" use -- I could use 12mg in the mornings, but only for about 45 mins before I started getting the sharp stabby pains in my abdomen -- hence I really had to use WTA to get rid of the damn cravings. I think those who've smoked high-nic-level cigarettes have it much easier in that regard, since plain nicotine is a LOT cheaper than WTA, and a LOT easier to wean down from.
