Got one same time my Gbox 200 showed up - FT + MAP code - and it's decent.

I've been using it all day, every day since it arrived - on the gbox, of course. I can't decide if I want smaller coils, or larger - legs atop or below. I've been trying variations since it arrived, and indeed it's sporting Rayon that arrived several days ago. The only change I made was: the miserable barbie-doll screwdriver irked me, and I discovered it uses grubs the same size as the griffin-25, so I swiped the spares from that kit and keep all my atomizers using the same tee-tool/allen-key. Oh, and it came with a std 510 pin, so I had to install the BF pin in the parts bag.

I'd say the flavor is good, as well as the airflow. The build is even easier than a kayfun.I'm not having issues with sqounking it, and my juice is about 99% VG.

I did try my new 4 and 4.5mm mandrels, but.. The coil gets far too close to the 'cliffs'. So, my normal 3mm coils are what I use - good clearance all around. The only thing I find 'odd' is that the inside of the cap and the entire surface inside the deck is always 'wet' with ejuice. Must be recondensing whatever is left between vapes.

I've not even used my new Pulse24 since the wasp arrived. Tiny atty; nice build deck; simple; inexepensive; functional. Done.

Love them, when I shop anywhere online if they are available I add one to every order.
Congrats on winning one !, it's a must own.

I get that these are crazy popular, and I just ordered the Wasp Squeeze combo from FT...but what’s the use of having that many Wasp Nano’s (asking seriously, since I’m new to squonking/RDAs)? Have you considered a Nudge 22?

AVS has a sale going on, so I thought about picking up some pre-made coils. Anyone have any recommendations for me to use on the Wasp Pico Squeeze combo? Maybe @The Cromwell?

A smallish clapton if you are talking claptons 3mm ID maybe .35 - .45 ohms ?

I roll my own paralell 26 ga SS 3mm id 10 wrap ~.43 ohms.

About 3mm ID is as big as you want in a wasp.

I prefer a cooler, but flavorful vape. Was thinking of these triple cores in 30G/38G with 6 wraps. Should ohm out to 0.35 if I take a half wrap out...just not sure how ramp up would be with these complicated wires.

https://www.advancedvapesupply.com/...gx3-36g-316l-ss-fused-clapton-coils-x10-pcs-1
The 10 wrap parallel I described gives a lightly warm vape on the pico with 25R's or HG2's in it.
With VTC5A's ti will be a bit warmer as they hit harder.
and it is quite flavorful.

Never used the coils you pointed out but they should work fine.

I am a round wire kind of guy.

I’ll definitely order some round wire coils as well too get started. Thanks man...

Ah yes, I’ve been thinking of picking that up with some snips and ceramic tweezers. So you don’t think a full ohm meter is necessary?
You either need an ohm meter thingy or a regulated mod to check you builds with to be sure of no shorts, etc on any unregulated device.
However the Pico Squeeze has short protection and will not fire if too low on the resistance.
But I still recommend checking your builds.
And here is a good tool for figuring out your coils you build.
Also has ohms law calculator for figuring battery drain.

Yup, that site is in my bookmarks and I’ve been fooling with it. I do have a couple of regulated mods to read and dry burn/pulse coils once Slowtech delivers everything... ;)

Thanks for your help!

Hey, I was planning on starting with nail clippers if I didn’t get snips by then lol

My $3 snips from Harbor Freight are cheaper than clippers.
:)
I also have one of those tools but have not used it since I got the coilmaster.

I even built a stand for my coilmaster and such.
quite fancy is bamboo.

Love my Wasp Nanos. Not as many as Cromwell but I do have 3 of them on Pico squeezes. With VTC 5a batts I use a 7 wrap 3 core fused clapton from AVS. Comes out to about.33. IF I want a slightly cooler vape I'll throw in a 25r.

Question about the decks on the various colors; Saw one site describe the deck on the black as brass while on another site it was listed as stainless steel. Is the black deck painted, anodized etc? I prefer the look of the black topcap, but am concerned about the deck and wondering if the clear cap/ss deck would be a safer/smarter choice.

Well, mine is black - I would guesstimate it's an epoxy black. Damned if I know why it's inside, but it is. You could get the SS version and just buy a spare cap in black - FT has them.

I’ll be able to comment for sure once mine arrives from China. In the pics I’ve seen, it looks like a powdercoat finish. I wouldn’t be worried from a safety perspective, as the deck won’t get anywhere as hot as the actual coil.

Powdercoat, yeah - better guess than mine. No, the deck doesn't get hot-hot, but it's always awash in juice - from squonk to cap interior.

Fair point...but if my powdercoated wheels can withstand road salt, aggressive driving in various temps, brake dust cleaner, and whatever other crap is out there...I’m sure the powdercoat (if that’s what it is) on this atty is fine with some ejuice.

Nah, that ain't my point - powdercoat is used all over, anyway. My point is we don't know if it's HW store paint, epoxy paint or powdercoat.. Mine just looks like "thick black". And, I dunno wtf they put in their <whatever method>.. Of course, I mostly don't care - but some folks do.

SS does not chip or scratch and look bad.
My SS tanks and attys still look just as good as new some close to 3 years later.

That's a good point. My experience in watch and jewelry industry taught me that gold plating, silver plating etc. vary widely even from the same factory because the plating baths don't stay steady from day to day. Over time, regular use causes fading, chipping etc. on many generally well made products. Plating also varies widely in thickness, as vendors make cost choices(or workers leave item in the plating for varying amounts of time) and thicker plating costs more because they use more gold or silver. SS is always going to hold up the best and scratches won't be as noticeable.
One gold plated RTA I bought tasted bad no matter how I wicked/built on it. I did a warranty exchange to SS and the taste was much better with the same builds. Can't prove it, but I suspect that spotty quality gold plating was affecting the taste.

enjoy your squonking journey and let us know how it works out.

So the AVS triple core Claptons that I got from AVS have horrendous ramp up and ramp down time. Takes at least 2-3 seconds from cold to start getting vapor. First time playing with Claptons. Fortunately, I also have a few simple SS316 round wire coils...gonna put one in tonight.

My fav for a wasp is a 3mm 26ga SS316L 10 wrap parallel. fits perfectly slightly spaced and vapes nice.

Thanks so much for all of your help! If I recall correctly, you’re running the Wasp on a Pico Squeeze as well, correct? Do you suggest the coil be spaced or unspaced?

Just very slightly spaced and it will fit perfectly between the posts.

10 wraps gives a warm but not hot vape with a 25R in the Squeeze, with a VTC5A it is noticibly warmer.
10 wraps will give about .34-.35.

Just adjust the number of wraps till it suits you.
I put the legs on top and after securing pull the coil up slightly with the wrapping rod.
Up to where I can just see the bottom edge of the coil thru the air hole as being about level with the bottom of the airhole.

But as with the number of wraps try a few ways to see what works best for you.

Ohh and vaping the same build on a Kanger Dripbox 160 I usually go around 30-32 watts.

Ohh and I also use a drip tip on my Wasps.

Decided to try a very basic coil first...24G SS316 with 5.5 wraps, very slightly spaced, 0.36 ohms. Voila, instant ramp up! Also made sure to line the top of the coil with the top of the posts, so just the bottom 1/3 is visible through the airflow...no spitback and amazing flavor!

Flavor was great with the claptons, but 2-3 seconds of ramp up is ridiculous.

I think if one uses claptons in the wasp they need to be low mass claptons.

And as I said whatever works best for you. No one size fits all.

Well I’ll chalk it up to being a newb with respect to custom coils...I was just going based on the resistance. So I now have 9 AVS triple core claptons that will now sit until I get a regulated squonk mod.

What batteries do you use?
A VTC5A will heat up that clapton quicker.
One can really notice the difference between it and 30Q or HG2 or 25R.

I got 4 of them and decided I had to add another wrap or go back to my 25R's so i just went back to my 25R's :)
I use the VTC5A paired in my DB 160's now.

30Qs...I’ll have to give the VTC5As a shot eventually...right now I’m thoroughly enjoying this simple coil. :)

Could the ramp up/down delay have more to do with your mod? No delay at all when I use that same wire in my Reload RTA on a Double Barrel and it hits fast. Haven't heard many complaining of delays due to SS wire except in huge builds on mods suffering from voltage drop. One of my my squonkers known for voltage drop hits slowly with almost any wire or build...

Yes, I should have been more clear. I’m running the Wasp Nano on a Pico Squeeze...so it doesn’t have the power needed for these coils IMO. Once o get a regulated squonker, I’ll be able to run the coils in the Wasp Nano without issue I’m sure.

which gauge/wrap combination and what are they ohming out at?

I am running their Tri-Core Fused Clapton SS 30GX3/38G / 3MM / 5 wrap - x1 = 0.35ohm in my 2 x RSQ's in TC mode at 55w and 450F and it gives a good vape for me. They seem to ramp up better than my coilology tri-core fused clapton 3-26/36 ni80 single coil ~0.21 ohm I am running in my pulse/athena boxes with vtc5a and ijoy 5 leg 20700's.

I just double checked...I actually have dual cores. Specifically, the 26Gx2/36G 3mm 5.5 wraps ohming around 0.38. I bought them during the sale and the triple cores were out of stock.

Once it ramped up, the flavor was devine. Like I said, they just need more power than my poor Pico Squeeze can put out.

I have the rdta version of the nano coming in the mail Thursday. Anyone know what material the coil that comes with it is made from?
