Copper Broadside clone done. Almost none of the greens or blues came through. Unfortunately, that's one of the side effects of using mustard - when it gets rinsed off, it usually takes most of the salt colors with it. Still, not a bad looking job though. Decided on a matte finish on this one.

Gonna try a dragon skin patina today through tomorrow. I hope it doesn't come out shitty.
I hope it turns out well. I had a hard time getting the fish net to stay down. But if you Cork both holes you may be able to pin it to the Cork.

Came out like shit. It's had 2 light clear coats. This is where I usually wet sand, then give it a final coal. I might just sand it down and try again.

So I left the grip part (middle) brass when I patina'd it, hoping to sand and polish the raised portions. Came out like crap. So I decided to alcohol ink the grip, and sand/polish the raised portions. Came out like crap again. So I painted the fucker. All better. :D

Thanks! It didn't come out how I wanted it to, but once I got over it I think I like it now. It definitely hits just as good as the authentic T6 Raptor I have.

Yup, just sand it down and try something different. That's the cool thing - it's not necessarily permanent unless you want it to be. Here are a couple that I did that I wasn't happy with, so I sanded them down and redid them. I guess they weren't really all that bad the first round, but I figured I could do better. After all, we are our own worst critics.

I'd say about an hour. The best thing to do is give it an acetone bath. This gets rid of the excess salt, while leaving the patina intact. You can do it under a light stream of water, but it will wash out some of the patina. If you didn't sprinkle with salt, then just sand and or rinse to get your desired effect, let it dry (if necessary) again, then give it 2 light clear coats. Let it cure, sand again, then a heavier clear cot. Let that one cure, then sand/polish.

Do you have high grit polishing paper/cloths? Use 6,000-12,000 for the best gloss possible.

Dude, I don't mind helping, but I don't have time to be your source. The Facebook group is a great place with lots of information. It's free. Also look at YouTube. There's a lot more out there than I can possibly offer you.

Not too happy with it with the clear coats. I'll probably sand it down and do it over. First I'll see what it looks like all put together. The colder weather seems to be having a negative (to me) effect on the aesthetics of the patina process.
