Got it in this morning. It's not quite been put through its paces, but it's looking great so far.

Flavor is really good, and wicking with 3mm ID coils is simple and straight forward. Nice and snug in the coils with a very light comb out on the tails, and enough in the channels to not quite touch the bottom. So far I've had no leaking, even when filling without burping, and it's keeping up just fine. I vape the wicks pretty close to dry before filling though, so bear that in mind. I haven't been quite brave enough to top it off with juice still in it.

The airflow is comparable to the Reload RTA, Troll RTA, something along those lines. It's a little on the whistly side when completely open, but a very small adjustment took care of it. Coil position will probably help too, as it usually does with side airflow tanks. Right now mine are positioned so that you can just see the bottom of the coils, they probably need to be a bit higher.

The only real concern I have so far is the fact that there's no o-ring sealing off the deck itself from the chamer. All other tanks of this style I've seen have an o-ring around the base of the deck to ensure a good seal against the base of the chamber. It may not be necessary, but I could see juice possibly seeping in from under the deck if it's on it's side in a pocket or something, causing some minor leaking. I'll know soon enough!

Over all I'm really liking it so far. My trusty Reload still has it beat on flavor, but not by much. With the capacity and quick, simple wicking I could easily see it getting daily use.

Recieved mine in the mail today. Right off the bat I am not impressed with how the deck is indexed into the chamber. Hopefully mine wears in soon, but the first time I tried to put it in it took me maybe 5 mins of fiddling to get it lined up and seated properly.

Seems like I could fit bigger coils into the OG Boreas than I can in this one. Or maybe I have just gotten used to building on my 30mm Mizer. Not sure there.

Wicking... Not liking the wick cups for the tails. I LOVED the way you simply tucked wicks under the OG Boreas coils.

Now granted, I haven't even fired it off yet, but these are just my first thoughts after popping out of the tube. Ill update after I use it a few days.

Edit: Post didnt go through so Ill update it now....

Well I have been using it for a few hours now. My build is a three core fused clapton (28g SS x 3 wrapped in 40g Nichrome) 6 wraps, 3.5mm dual coils. running on a DNA250 at 465 degrees. Nice tasty vape. But I had to loose that god awful driptip after the first few hits. Issue one, its to short. Issue two, the damn knurling. I prefer to NOT get road rash from vaping.

Im gonna use this build for a couple days and then Ill play with rebuilding it and see if any of my other feelings are solved. So far though I do like it. Do I like it better than my OG Boreas? Im not sure... Time will tell.

After spending some time with it, I'm still really liking this thing. The lack of an o-ring sealing the deck to the chamber hasn't been an issue. I've sat for an hour or so at a time at work with it in my pocket and it hasn't leaked a drop, still using the same simple wicking I mentioned in my last post.

The whistly airflow is driving me insane though. I noticed that the edges of the airflow holes on the inside of the chamber are pretty rough. I'm gonna try smoothing them out with a dremel and see if that solves the problem.

Just wanted to give a little update now that it's been put through its paces.

Living on the edge this morning...

Tank was 3/4 empty, refilled while the airflow was wide open, with no burping needed and no leaking. Definitely a keeper.

If I'd known I was gonna have to wait this long from a US vendor, I'd have ordered from someone else.....

Subtank supply... ALWAYS subtanksupply...
I got an in-stock alert from them after I'd placed the order with VaporRange....hindsight, right? I did get mine in the mail a few minutes ago though, and will chalk this one up as a lesson learned. ;)

Okay, I think I like it. No issues coiling or wicking (the wicking was the only part I was concerned with), so far no leaks; flavor is good...the tip doesn't bother me as I don't wrap my lips around them that tightly to begin with, lol! Certainly looks nice.
But the box. I HATE the box. I don't like digging for stuff.

Chef, what would closing the AFC do? there is no JFC linked to it. and once you open the top the juice tank is open to air anyway... Not seeing as how it matters on the V2.

what are some good builds people are using in this tank? I just cant get it to compare to my original Boreas... Kinda feeling bummed about it.

I did my first build yesterday, a pair of 3mm 26awg SS316L parallel coils. 8 wraps ohm's out to ~.2 and fits the deck nicely.

I put it together with the short tank and my favorite drip tip from the Merlin RTA. Flavor is really good and more than enough clouds for my taste.

Never had the V1 so I can't compare but so far I'm liking it! Easy to build, assemble, I like the optional tank sizes... two thumbs up.

Been enjoying this very impressive flavour like it a lot.

Not sure on the draw its fairly noisy and feels very shallow on the inhale although I’ll get used to that

I haven’t used the micro chamber yet

tried the original boreas drip tip but actually prefer the stock in it although how quickly it’s gonna get funky does concern me

Very airy tank had to close airflow right up to get the restricted draw I like. Like this sort of wicking style very similar to the uwell D2, rebuilt that so many times wicking sort of comes as second nature. Ok you lose the bed of cotton the original had but it not finicky when refilling like the original.

Coil positioning is going to be really important in this to get the best out of it what have others found works for them? Me personally I align the bottom of the coil with the top of the lower post screws and pull the coils out as far as I can without a short being a problem ....this way air gets under the coil and up between it and the post, as well as the outer edge

Erm easiest to show it lol

The Boreas wasn't even on my radar until this thread. I use a Griffin plus and it works great. Do you think I'd like the first Boreas? Im kinda trying to get back to my roots and building my own coils. I dont want to play it safe and get another Griff. I want to try something new.

The pics of this new V2 deck look like the old style Griffin. Where the Griffin 25 plus you just lay the wick down with minimal hasstle. Ive read the posts here about the V1 where it sounds kinda similar? I dont know...

Lay it down as a bed of cotton was on the original boreas Frank this one you need to fill the juice well

Looks good! What gauge wire is that?

I'm planning on wrapping some claptons if I ever find the time and that's looking pretty good to me.

Tried out some flat wire, been using it lately as I haven’t had as much time to build properly but to be honest I can’t tell much difference between this and a staple using ribbon wire when I’ve built those. Both gives a damn fine vape, and that’s why it has the squarish look to it plenty of surface area, the added benefit is you don’t have to piss around with sliders etc when wrapping it

3mm ID with 8 wraps, 25g flat wire core, 38g wrap all 316L came to 0.22ohm dual coil

They colour up nice too, was saving this for my review but sod it gonna see it anyway at some point

Looks interesting - I think I'll try it. I have some flat around here somewhere. I think it's N80 0.3x0.9? Can't remember. I've had it a while and just never got around to trying it. I have some square wire somewhere, too, but I don't remember the type or dimensions.

The stuff I bought was this in Ni80 and 316L

25 AWG (0.68mm x 0.27mm) - Ni80 (NiCr80/20) Flattened Wire (Round Wire Made Flat) - 10 Metre Spool - 5.94 ohms/m

It was a lot more expensive than standard round wire though paid the same for 10m that I usually would for 100m

Used it in the Soul S clone I bought as well was such a nice vape

871E5520-381D-4942-92AA-ED857DDB709A.jpeg

Ramp up time takes a little longer than a normal fused Clapton but ongoing power requirements aren’t too bad I’m vaping the coils on the boreas v2 at 63w giving me a nice warm vape

Copied it hence the bold massive font sorry
FYI if you use Ctrl+Shift+V when pasting it should remove the formatting and 'paste as plain text'. If that doesn't work you can also download a browser extension (I use one in chrome and firefox) that allows you to 'copy as plain text' with the right-click menu so then it doesn't matter which method you use to paste the text.

Cheers fozzy how about on the phone? Hold on I’ll go edit and try re pasting see if there’s an option

Edit: No option I can see to paste as although the A at the top allows to change size to 4 and I un-bold it jobs a gooden

I’d wait and see how it goes on here still early days for the boreas V2 in a few more weeks when everyones puts it through it paces then have a check see what the chatter is from everyone in here....personally I haven’t had mine for long enough yet to say yeah its banging or its just another run of the mill, flavour is above average and mounting coils was easy though that’s all I can say at the moment really so still on the fence until I figure out its quirks

The original boreas is well worth a look while you can still grab it hell it attracted over 6000 posts back in the day ...watch for refilling though it will piss out everywhere if you dont do it right, so far the V2 doesn’t have that problem whatsoever :)

I Still want to know what builds and coil placement everyone else is getting good success with on the V2

Ok tried my coil like so aligned with bottom post hole also switched from cotton bacon to koh gen doh as the former was wicking a little to quickly and leaking a little bit

C63D677B-E1EB-4AE0-8513-CA474E6B88DF.jpeg

Getting much bigger plumage from this position and flavour a little better than before

Also tried the 2ml tank and switched out that god awful drip tip for one of my others

B6F49B65-7CC4-45BC-B0DD-98E40447B25C.jpeg

Problem is shortly after I was vaping it I noticed I missed out an oring after cleaning it and ended up cracking the glass when I was undoing it .....so long 2ml version sigh (it’s a lot thinner than the 5ml glass so watch out for over doing it)

been messing about will coil placement again just wasn’t satisfied it was better than the original. I managed to find it’s sweet spot I think. The vape is so much better now. Would say it’s now improved over the original for flavour and I have staples in that.
Edit: using a 510 drip tip in this configuration massively improves flavour using the original boreas DT on here, damn fine vape

So still using 3mm ID coils

Instead of pulling the coils out to the edge I pulled them out just ever so slightly to the edge of the insulator looking down

47C36139-D591-41A8-AF50-74CE017D4E73.jpeg

Still kept coil height round about in line with bottom post

8E813C92-FCA1-4538-8538-AEE541746EB0.jpeg

Of all of the positions I’ve tried so far this has given the best results ...i also removed a wrap in these fresh coils...so my resistence reduced to 0.18ohm dual coil (still using 25g flat wire core with a 38g wrap all 316L)

Is anyone having a problem with extreme condensation especially under the airflow ring, to the point where it seems like it's leaking but it's just pooling up under the ring and leaking down.

Yeah I’ve noticed a bit of this nothing like the original though...mainly see it after refilling. I find taking a few puffs directly after refilling helps to stop this occurring so quickly

I've read some people have been getting leaking when refilling, luckily I've had none when refilling, but the excessive condensation around the airflow ring has been annoying me, it gets to the point after about a day of using it is starts to dribble out of the bottom of the airflow ring, I had the same problem with aromamizer supreme light which is pretty much the same setup so it just might be how it is with these types of tanks where the coop is right next to the airflow.

Spot on, that's exactly how to build it !

I have the gold one but holding fire taking a pic as it's waiting for it's new home.

I would like to pay homage to the original, this is mine, one of a kind Boreas
