So glad you got a good setup that works for you...Cheers!

Well, I discovered an issue with it later, which I've since rectified... I think. I've been in the habit of building my coils high, for better TH. In this little tiny thang, if you do that, then the bottom of the driptip runs into the damn coil! But I think I've managed to lower the coil without damaging it, and the resistance is now staying true, not trying to short everytime I take a hit. It's now vaping pretty damn well; I remain impressed with its tight draw, and truly, shockingly impressed with the flavor... from a side-airflow atty! Fucking amazing! It doesn't really seem like a technological marvel, seems pretty simple and straightforward... but it's managed to do what no other side-airflow atty that I've tried has managed... give good flavor!

The Dripbox 2 RDA is much improved over the V1. And, the V1 wasn't terrible if you raised up the coils a bit...

I don't care a thing in the world about the RDA that comes on that, but I'm entertaining the thought of buying that mod; if I can find one, that is; they're really cheap now, if you can find them.

I think so, too -- and my son is casting covetous eyes on the DB160. :D He vapes at slightly higher wattage, and substantially lower resistance, so he really could benefit from a 2-batt mod more than I do. 30Q's last me well over 2 days, usually closer to 3, so having 2 batteries isn't really essential to keep me vaping. :D

Am so grateful - I went straight to squonking from cigalikes, lol

Did the same for my cousin when she was trying to quit - sent her a Von Erl, a few pods and a squonk setup

She has been smoke free and squonking since April

It'll take some getting used to, for me; I've been vaping exclusively Achilles since spring of 2015, and the way I vape, the 2.5ml really lasts, and I've learned to a nicety what it tastes like when it needs more juice, without it going all the way to dry hit -- that took about 6 months to learn though, and I don't think it will take that long to get used to having to squonk every other vape. At least I finally have a squonk atty that I really like! :) And a whole new area of vapey things to buy and try. :D I might try out that Le Concorde next. ;)

Well, I've been looking around for decent alternatives to the Achilles since I found I couldn't buy anymore of 'em, and I think I finally found it. :D Still prefer the Achilles, but hey, I just started squonking. :D I've really missed the "newbie" version of vapemail, where you're trying all kinds of new stuff; I copied down that list of recommended tight draw BF atomizers, and plan to try as many as I can reasonably afford -- there really aren't that many with a good tight draw anyway.

USPS at it's finest!
I ordered some new batteries from my battery guy (just outside of Atlanta) I live about an hour north of Jacksonville Fl.
Ok, so batteries left Atlanta and traveled to Jacksonville which is usual then they normally come to Brunswick which is where I live, but no. They have now gone further south to Orlando. And they wonder why they are losing money. SMDH

Sent from planet Krypton
They are the same way here.I bought something off Ebay a while back. The seller is in the same city as me,but instead of coming straight across the city from his side of town to mine, they sent it 100 miles away first haha.

I always went along with
the accepted creed of small chamber, domed chamber, etc... but the
Achilles has neither, and has the most flavor of any atty I've ever
tried -- it's a 22mm atty with a HUGE chamber, and not domed inside...
but the flavor will knock you down.

Know it might sound like a bad suggestion but I'm not so sure either
way. You might want to try a Goon LP. The airflow is adjustable on those
and I get both flavor and cloud from them on a decent build. Currently
running one with an experimental build hitting at about .5 Ω.

The build is a strand of 28 awg Nichrome, & 30 awg twisted together
and then doubled back on itself and twisted. Not exactly a Clapton.
I'm needing to have a clear area where I can set a means to building
Clapton, trying to turn them out by hand does not work for me.

!!! PLEASE STAY
!!!

I know it does not matter if I stay or go. I'm not leaving but I will be
a lot more restrictive in my posts. Would rather feel more comfortable,
able to post humor and as myself without concern. That seems to not be
appropiate, desired by some.

Sure they can ignore anyone's posts the same as I can. They don't and
instead make repeated attempts to use me as a punching bag. Well, I'll
leave so if they take a swing they're not hitting anything.

Council of Vapor Wraith
80w is on sale for 29.99 at ecig-city.

That might go into my next shopping spree, once my stipend replinshes.

It doesn't really seem
like a technological marvel, seems pretty simple and straightforward...
but it's managed to do what no other side-airflow atty that I've tried
has managed... give good flavor!

A battery box with a juice bottle inside, an atomizer to contain the
coil/s. It is straight forward. Easy to maintain and easy to learn the
basics. You lose a lot of mess and a lot of hassle but the trade off is
worth it. I'm especially liking mechs.

You are sinking down

The sky won't fall if you oversquonk.

I wouldn't even piss on a top airflow RDA. They just suck.

That is why there is so many diff atty and mods on the market. Everyone has a diff taste in vaping products. Flavor chasers, cloud chasers, tanks, rda's, rdtas, regulated, unregulated, Mechs, squonks and so on. Find what you like and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks as long as it keeps you off the stinkies!

Place the coils where they are just a bit higher than centered on the AF slots and it is a quite decent vape.
the one piece top is not to my taste but it works fine.

the attys are hard as heck to over squonk, which makes them a perfect driving atty.

I only build my own.
Don't think I even opened one of those packages that came with my Dripboxes.

Don't hate me but I'll probably use those coils I mentioned my first couple times.

I'd be using pre-built coils in that case.

Probably these crazy thingies below.

https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/rep...fused-clapton-coils-0-45ohm-box-60-coils.html
Claptons will not fit in the tiny holes in the factory coil decks.

2 24 ga round wires MAY fit in each hole. 25 ga works fine, not tried 24 but may not fit.

If you are going to use big coils get a Goon clone or something. The 22mm goon clone from FT works fine and is cheap.

Sad day... So I was going to build some coils today...grabbed the spool of 26g N80...grabbed the Needle Nose...gave a small yank and 4 inches of wire...fuck me...thought I had another spool of 26g and yeah I do, but its SS316L... so dislike Yo-Yo vaping. Start warm, tapers like I'm in TC...Puke lol

So ordered enough wire to last me a good while.

1000' of 26gN80
2000' of 36gN80
250' of 24gN80
500' of 28g N80

I'm 'bout half inclined to try a regulated squonk, out of safety considerations. Had some bad experiences with batteries I'm sure a regulated might have alerted me. Or a regulated would have pulled a "fuck you, ain't gonna do it" in order to stop said bad experiences. I can understand that. I don't mind the drop so much, except recently with these newer batteries I got. It seems like I need to re-learn the signal they're about to dive off. They been just plunging to "ha I'm a dead battery, charge me" status, without seemingly giving a warning.

Never bought any N80 only Kanthal and SS.

You might like the N80, it is highly clean and has very little 'ramp up' time. It works a little easier than the Kanthal but not as malleable/soft as the SS.

PM w/ a mailing address. I'll toss you a bit in an envelope so you can try a little. :)

Not sure why but this last time in ordering wire, decided to try some N80 & SS. Got some pre-made coils too, learning & lazy aid for me. "Look dummy, here's how those type of coils come out. You try it now."

Thanks but I have a lot of SS to work thru. I settled on it and am stocked up for around 10-15 years :) Already abandoned quite a few spools of Kanthal....

A 100ft spool of wire will last me around 2 years.

I burn through wire trying to perfect Aliens, I am ok at making them...can spin up fused all day with zero issues...but I'd like to be able to make an Alien wire run longer than a foot.

And I agree, 100ft can last a long time with simple round builds, even making dual core fused... I do have a bin with a bunch of pre-made fused and Aliens, which would last me easily months of just swapping coils when I rewick.

guess when I finally perfect Aliens, I can stop, but I think when I finally can spin them without issue, I might start selling them lol

Plus I like the challenge of making them.

I'm having difficulty in doing Claptons, Fused. Not even thought of trying Aliens yet. My difficulty lies in not having space where I can set up some kind of clamp system, jig to help in winding them out. I can do maybe 1-3 ft of Twisted wire though and I'm getting really good at that. Twist 28 awg down to where it feels near like the next size lower, 26 I believe.

Hoping this difficulty will soon be changed. Me and wife are gradually heading out of here. That'll mean I can be out in the whole house, where we live instead of cramped up in a 10x12 room.

You have a dining table? I use this style clamp on my desk in the computer room...

upload_2017-10-12_8-14-47.png

The little hole on the slide is where I have my swivels attached and it matches the height of my DeWalt drill perfectly...then I use another one to clamp down the battery of the drill to the table.

Some use the easy clapton maker thingy and if I wasn't in construction and owned a crap ton of tools already, I might of picked one up.

Single core claptons and any clapton is truly about the tension of the wrap you use and gauge.

I think the clapton making thingy-ma-bob is good enough...small enough for most.

It ain't out of safety that I don't like mehanical mods/devices.
It is simply I don't like getting a great vape then suddenly getting a vape that was half as good as the last 1 I just took.
I like getting my vape to be good right until the dang battery just gives out and needs a new charge.
Which means using a regulated mod/device.

I can understand that. I don't mind the drop so much, except recently with these newer batteries I got. It seems like I need to re-learn the signal they're about to dive off. They been just plunging to "ha I'm a dead battery, charge me" status, without seemingly giving a warning.

My all time favorite wire is 317l SS, after that is N80. I've found If I don't pulse/dry fire n80 enough to build up a nice protective chromium oxide I can taste metal, but have to be careful not to burn it up. SS I turn off my workbench lights and just leave the shop lights on, just get it to a nice even dark orange glow and try to stop at a nice blue, not burning through all the colors.
