GTRS VBOY 200W battery door issue-fix?

I got this yesterday and love it. Unfortunately, and so far only once, the battery door popped open. GTRS is aware of it, they say they have a fix, but not sure if it's going to apply to current stock, and, we have no way of knowing if we are buying a fixed or non fixed version.

Has anyone been able to fix this on their own, and, if so, exactly how did you fix it?

This is not a deal breaker for me, it's my most advanced mod I have ever bought and I am very happy with it so far, but it would be great to have this issue solved.

TIA and happy vaping!

Ask their CS. Tape.
I did. Typical Chinese customer service, we love you, but we can't give you a fix for it, you are little person, we deal with distributor, and believe me, they are more interested in selling than support, it's all talk on their end.

We think we have replyed you on YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc! So, what do you want Jerry? we told you can find your seller, we will deal with this problem together with all, but not one piece!
As you know, we are the manufacturer, yes, product have some flaw is our problem, but we can't replacement it one by one, hope you can understand!
Or, you can let me know how much you bought, and then send back this item to us, we will return money to you directly!

How's your idea?
for your reference!

Dear Susan,

Thank you much for getting back. I just went over to the store I bought it from, VaseCigareta.cz here in Prague, and the store owner was incredibly helpful and said he would send it back to be fixed and loan me another similar mod in the meantime.

I simply was saying I would be glad to fix this problem myself if you were able to send me the parts, so as not to trouble you and your repair staff.

One other issue came up with it, and that is that the 510 holder on top is loose, it moves from side to side, and he agreed that this is not good and they would have that fixed as well.

Susan, I am a big fan of the VBOY, I have been vaping five years and after much research, decided to go with the Vboy and I still believe it was the best choice. For the price, in my opinion, it is outstanding and I would not change it and thank you for all the hard work you did on this excellent product.

The only issues I mention are to me minor and probably to be expected with the early versions of any model, and I am sure sure you will fix them in upcoming models.

I am fine to wait for a few weeks for it to be sent off, and if it is properly fixed, I will be enjoying it even more than I am now.

Thank you again, and wish you continued success.

Hi Susan,

Once quality is solidified please make a variant:

VGirl/Gal/Stick/Mod
Make it white/rose/gold
Create novice TC mode
-skip SXi-Q choices in selections
-remove Ni and Ti choices in selections
Replace car wallpapers with flowers
Replace raunchy wallpapers with puppies and kittens

I'll let you know how she likes it. Hopefully I can finally get her off power mode. I'll need a few, a tad lower price would help.

I know this is tongue-in-cheek, but, honestly, I bet if they had a pink version of this, not black, with easy menu system, the ladies might really go for it.
I know plenty of female vapers here in Prague and all over Europe, who want to look fashionable when they vape.

And totally agree on the wallpapers, I like sexy women as much as anyone else, but in real life and not a picture on my vaping device. Fortunately, with the software you can download anything you like, that is so cool! :)

How bout that for CS! They trolled you out on the forums. I'm very impressed.

Yeah, but hey man that's good, shows they are responsive. For a cheap mod, I wouldn't have even bothered, but this is like a Mercedes of the vaping world, it's good to work with them to make things better. :)

I'm actually quite serious about the ladies version. I've been looking for mods with solid, easy to use TC that don't require any fiddling for her since the Cuboid was released.

I have a couple SXMini's but she tends to drop and lose her mods. A stylized and simplified G Class at fraction of the price would be the ideal mod for her without bankrupting me. This is almost there. Otherwise she'll get an Aspire Speeder for XMas.

Yes, I'm serious too, I think it's a fantastic idea. It would be great if they had a model that was fashionable, easy to use, yet just as powerful as the Vboy. It is also pretty solid, and doesn't look like it would be seriously damaged if it's dropped, but, we'll see. I'm not thrilled about the battery door opening, but, it doesn't happen every day and it's just like a little open. I wasn't happy to find out that the top part is moving around a little, but, could be just growing pains as it just came out. Best mod I've had ever.

I looked at the SX Mini, but comparing these two, I couldn't justify twice the price myself, this one is also G Class and does everything I want and more.

Not sure if they have a non Czech web site. They are fantastic though. Normally I order through aliexpress.com for best prices but they had the vboy at a fair price.

So far, the door situation has gotten worse, it opens all the time. The button to change the puff strength is stuck on standard, and the top where you screw the Atty in is loose. It has to go in for service and I hope they can fix it all. The customer service has been interesting, I hope they can get to understand us individual users and clearly see that it's their best interest to make their products work...

Well, figure it'll be a little while for GTRS to get their quality and production in order, longer for the VGirl. So my wife got an Aspire Speeder for her birthday. We'll see what XMas holds.

Got her the white/gold, very stylish, great ergonomics. Aspire's chip, no SX500J, is still really impressive. SS TC setup was a snap, and is very consistent. It's still early but the initial quality is great. Time will tell but she'll probably lose it before it has any issues. If she's still in TC mode after a week I'll be giddy.

Yeah, it's a great mod, they just needed to do a bit more quality assurance on it before they got it out the door, for the price nothing beats it.

Great mod? For the price nothing beats it? But it has a crap battery door and a loose 510 and you think that is good for a $120 mod and to top it off, their CS sucks from the sounds of it, you really must be a fanboy to be saying that, can get mods for $30 that don't have them problems.

OK, I sent it in for repair, and got it back a week later. So far so good, no problems with the battery door, and the center piece does not rotate anymore.

Thanks to the GTRS people for their help, I love this mod and hope this fixes the problem for good!

I think they rushed it out the door without adequate in the field testing first, and, insisting that you can only repair them through a dealer is a bit draconian-I bought mine locally but not everyone does. I'm just saying that I've had Kangertech (paint was horrible, it peeled off and looked butt ugly), iJoy (underpowered), eLeaf (simple and underpowered), and Smok Al85 (ok, but underpowered). The VBOY feels right in the hand, has a great design, not boxy like most, feels nice due to the rubber coating, and fires up immediately. And has a ton of options. Yes, I am a fan, been vaping five years and really am enjoying it, I hope the problems are ironed out for good in future production.

Update - from a separate post

I bought the GTRS VBOY late September, it was what GTRS is now calling 'version one'. No secret that the battery door kept popping open at random intervals, the batteries would simply fall out, it kept getting worse to where I had to use tape to hold it on.

GTRS said they would only fix this through a distributor. Fortunately I bought one locally (vasecigareta.cz, excellent store here in the Czech Republic), and they took it back to get it fixed a few weeks ago.

They replaced the door, however, as I had seen on GTRS Facebook page, it was not stamped 'version 2' on the door, and hence was the original version. Door kept popping open, batteries kept falling out.

I gave it in once again early this week and told them that the new door must have 'version 2' stamped on it. Got a call from them a few days later, that they will not have the version 2 door in stock for another month. They have excellent customer service - I told them that I have had enough of this, and they agreed to refund me my purchase price.

Susan from GTRS service has been most helpful, offering to send me a door so I can fix it myself, but, at this point, I'd rather take the refund. I am going to get the new REV Nitro 200W instead, half the price, and it looks like a great mod.

Honestly between the loose 510 issue and the door issue, nice as this mod is on the surface, it's a no go for me...

Ive been in contact with them. They want to see a warranty card... Only them who makes this mod... Im at work now so I will send it tonight... my friend also bought it from the same store with same problems...

Give me a break, warranty card, what nonsense .... The problems are so big they will lose not only money on this because let's face it we are a small community and word gets around, but, in the future, who would buy a mod from there when there are so many others that do work properly? You would not, nor I.

So, end of tale, I ordered a REV-TECH Nitro mod from Cigabuy, Europe Express shipping, came really fast, 12 days, to Europe. I love it, great clouds and flavor, and less than half the price of the Gboy. I got a full refund from the local distributor (thanks Vasecigareta.cz!), so, all's well that ends well.

Not quite the end. Firmware update really messed things up. They are doing their best to fix, but honestly from now on, wait at least six months after any release, to ensure stability.

I'm of the honest opinion now that simpler is better, even if not sexy. Christ sakes we're just heating up some wire when you get down to it...

I had the same problem with my GTRS VBOY the 510 at the top was loose I fixed that issue. I took out the 3 screws holding the battery door housing in then the two screws on the top once they are out theres two more screws under the battery door housing. Once them screws are out the back comes apart be careful not to let the front come apart. Inside the mod under the 510 plate theres a bolt holding the 510 in place I tightened it up and it worked perfect!!

Did it come with that wrap installed or did you DIY that? Looks great.
I bought it for $30.00 bucks on eBay like that... But I went to Zapwrapz.com and ordered an additional for $12.00 inc. shipping..... it's called Honeycomb carbon fibre....

Out of curiosity, does the sx500 have onboard balance charging like the 520? If so, what's the max charge rate?

Obviously not something I'd use frequently, but curious in the event the need strikes.

Yes it does..... I took them out fully charged and one had 4.19 and one 4.20...... In my eyes that's balanced ......

It's good for emergencies in your car, I still prefer on the charger. The charge is stronger, on the external charger the batteries hold a better charge for longer time. It's weird .... But it still works if you are on your desk at work or in your car and need a quick charge.....

Thanks for that. I figured it did but wasn't able to easily confirm it when I glanced around, and since some of the older yihi boards had upgrade-only usb ports I figured it best to ask someone holding one, lol.

Not even a feature I plan on using as I've got plenty of chargers and bays, but potentially handy for just in case purposes.
