Smoant Battlestar non-Issues

I was just reading a thread about Smok mods and the problems they have. Then I thought, I don't think I've ever seen a complaint about the Battlestars or Charons. I'm going on 6 months with two BS which I use everyday. Not a single problem. I've got a bit of chipping going on where the tanks sit, so I can't see it anyway.

Damn things are great...I need a couple more.

I love both the battlestar and Charon. I use the battlestar more because I like the way it feels in my hand. Been using it for 6 months with not 1 issue.

Does the Charon have longer battery life than the Battlestar? Also, how does the size and weight compare? I do like my BS but also want something that can last longer with the tfv8.

The Charon is also a 2 battery mod so battery life is similar to the Battlestar. I use mine with the TFV12, but I always have a set of batteries charging and a set in use in the mod.

According to Daniel's review it has a cutoff of 3.4v, so it's comparabel to the battlestar in this little higher than usual cutoff. This is at idle, I don't know what the soft-cell cutoff(at load) is or hard-cutoff(chip resets). The chip is slightly newer too, so maybe the effeciency has changed also I dunno. I also don't know if the charon keeps the display on for 20 secs like the battlestar. In short, it's not that important on a two cell mod and if having external charger and extra cells to switch between(or take with you an extra set), imho... Though I love low-cutoff's too, and think they generally are set to high(cells are disposables imho and I replace them every 6-12 month so don't care about longevity of these and they're so cheap anyways)... Most good cells per spec can go down to 2.5 at idle even, for 300 minimum cycles without issues(just some capacity-loss)... However, the lower you get then there's not much to gain as it's a slope, though e.g. one at the evolv-forum calculated that at 10A then with 25Rs you'd get 9% more capacity from 3.1v to 2.8v roughly...

About size/weight...

Battlestar(black):

Dimensions:
DEPTH 34 mm
HEIGHT 84 mm
WIDTH 39 mm
PRODUCT WEIGHT 135 g

Charon(black):

Dimensions:
DEPTH 25 mm
HEIGHT 91 mm
WIDTH 55 mm
PRODUCT WEIGHT 197 g

As for issues with the battlestar, I've also only ever heard "complaints" about the battery-cutoff, display on too long/unadjustable(so again, regarding battery-life) and one reported ticking noises at some resistances...

You also gotta factor in the availability of these units... How many battlestars are sold e.g. compared to other more popular brands... The battlestar is a steel though and i'm not disagreeing in that it's a well-built/performing quality great mod you cannot go wrong with :)

The screen on duration is a pain for most of my mods, for sure. I wonder just how much it drains when on. I figured not many have been produced. I'm trying to find some more locally but they all seem to be gone.

Fucking A!!! I just got home and checked the local sites and the best one has Battlestars. Only silver but that's not a problem. They also got some Exo's. I ordered two BS and one Exo. I'll now have 4 BS and 6 Exo's. I guess I now officially fall into the Vape Hoarder category. :)

Good to know. I just ordered one. Hope it arrives mid next week. Looking forward to using it!

It's only hoarding if you never take them out to play with. Or it is simply stocking up for doomsday.

I just put the Exo together and I'm using it now on a new BS. I've got all of them in rotation. :)

I'm going to need more batteries soon.

Was considering a Battlestar. Just curious : is there any firing delay ?

My Charons have no lag, very responsive. Pretty sure they have same chip as Battlestar.

I love my Battlestar too. I get a delay in TC mode which was weird. Nobody else seems to have that problem. I use it in VW mode all the time now so its a non-issue. I like th way it fires. The battery life complaint is also a non-issue for me as I run 4-5 set-ups per day. None of them ever die on me mid-day because I use a rotation. I like to have a variety of flavor at my disposal.

I'm the same way with multiple flavors loaded up. One of the reasons I'm starting diy, want to love them all. :D
