I have been a vaping for a couple weeks now. I found this in a truck that I bought a while ago. What is it? I have no idea what so ever. And how does it work?

I think that's a Hexohm mod with some sort of Goon tank.

definitely a Hex ohm, great mod. I am not a fan of the goon.

Hexohm v2 (agree) and goon 1.0 I think... really really good score tough.
How have you been charging your batteries? :)

Actually put it down....it is not a vaping mod...it's actually a sex toy made in Korea called the ninja box...I won't go into how it is used as this is a family site.

I only asked how it's used because I've never seen a tank like that before so chill out

Got ya my bad it's just I've never seen a rank like that and it looks really complicated

The Goon is an RDA (Rebuildable Atomizer) and fairly easy to learn to build

there are 4 different things that could be from the pic
1.authentic UNREGULATED hexohm v2
2. clone of that
3. authentic hexohm regulated v2.1
4. clone of that

now clone is usually not a problem but the quality could be lower

to tell if its regulated or unregulated. on the opposite side of the button is there a dial that goes form 0 to 100?
if it has one then its regulated and its a variable voltage mod
if not its a mech mod
so you need to let us know which it is first so we can go from there
using a mech and a regulated mod are 2 different things

I'm a big fan of the Goon

Amen to that!

That and a hexohm is one killer setup!
Get a good pair of batteries, an ohm meter, battery charger and some rebuilding tools.
You've got one hell of a great setup right there.
Just be sure to build safely and learn good battery safety.

From the photos, I don't see any dials on any side, other than the fire button, so to be on the safe side, lets assume that is a mechanical (no safety circuits) mod. Since you said you are a new vaper, my best recommendation is take the batteries out, and pack the box in a drawer for later. You can use the tank on a regulated box and the batteries. (keep them paired, or use them single *but not paired after that*). You will need to do some study on battery safety, and ohms law, as well as learn how to build coils, and how to build good coils.

Now the part on top is an RDA (rebuildable drip atomizer) and inside is a coil (or 2) and a wick (or 2). To use, you pop the cap off, drip juice onto the wick and into the juice well in the base, replace the cap, and vape.

Now I have heard that that is a nice box mod, just to advanced for a new user.

To clarify, he needs to know if it's regulated or unregulated because there's a chance of having your batteries vent/explode if you build too low on an unregulated device. I've seen Youtube videos where people actually make batteries vent on purpose (in a controlled environment, of course), and it gets pretty gnarly. One guy literally turned a battery into a rocket and had it explode afterward (and that's no joke.) It's quite scary if you have your hand around that thing. It'll get real hot before this happens though, and hopefully you'll have enough sense to chuck the thing outside the nearest door or window before it goes. Just make sure nobody and nothing's nearby that could get damaged or hurt when you do, otherwise you could have problems with the neighbors, and they already hate you enough. (I'm kidding, of course. Just trying to add a little humor to a serious situation.) ;)

EDIT: I found that video for you. This is what happens when you overrun your batteries. Now imagine this happening in a mod that's literally half an inch from your face. It's nothing to get scared about, just learn basic battery safety and for the love of cake, learn Ohm's Law before you build on it if it's not regulated.

Goon is a pretty solid RDA, you also ought to try the Apocalypse by Armageddon MFG. Unlike the Goon it's all US made and manufactured, excellent quality. They've also dropped their prices a lot if you buy direct from them
http://armageddonmfg.com/shop/

IMO it's a bit better than the Goon so if you love the Goon I think you'd be impressed with it.

I could be wrong but I don't think Hexohm has ever made a Mechanical, they're all PVM with chips and wiring

I had to check.

The main thing is to find out for sure before using the mod. As I said, mechanical mods are for advanced users. Not something Avg Joe Vape needs. lol

I'll run through basic battery safety dos and donts.

  • DO use identical batteries in multi-battery setups. Some batteries will drain faster than others, and using identical batteries keeps everything balanced. Another thing to keep in mind is that batteries will drain faster as they get older. I will go one step further on this and suggest (you don't have to do this, but it's good practice) that you use the same batteries for that mod all the time.
  • DO check the rating for each battery before you use it in a mod. If you don't know, look it up. However, most batteries will have a rating on the label. You can also look it up on the manufacturer's website if it's not.
  • DO learn Ohm's Law before using an unregulated mod. (You need to know what's what before you build on a device that can pretty much blow your hand clean off.)
  • DO use high-drain batteries. Your local vape shop should be able to tell you which are high-drain batteries, or you can look it up yourself. Google is your best friend. As a rule of thumb, most of the cheaper batteries are NOT high-drain batteries, and will NOT be safe for use in an unregulated mod.
  • DON'T use batteries with torn casings. Have them rewrapped
  • DON'T store batteries in your pocket. Use a plastic sleeve that's specially made for holding batteries. Metal in your pocket can cause a short, and you end up looking like a big liar. (Get it? "Liar, liar, pants on fire?" See what I did there? Haw haw haw!)
  • DON'T use batteries with corroded terminals. Have them properly disposed of. (Most auto repair shops and/or recycling centers will also properly dispose of used batteries for little or no cost. Basically, you don't want a certain group of environmental protection zealots from the US Government stopping by your door with a torches and pitchforks crying about how hazardous materials YOU allowed to seep into the ground contaminated the local water supply. By the way, I'm being serious here. The Government is really like that. Really. Just don't throw your batteries in the trash.)
In summary, these are good batteries to use. These don't have torn casings or corrosion.

DSCN0464[1].JPG

These batteries are NOT safe to use. Have batteries like these rewrapped or have them recycled/disposed of if they look corroded.

DSCN0465[1].JPG

That's all I can think of offhand, although I'm sure others will chime in with additional tips for you. :) As for Ohm's Law, this site sums it up pretty good.

That's not a Mech, it's unregulated and yes there is a significant difference between Mech's and unregulated with chips and wires. I'm not being excessively anal retentive for people need to be aware of this primarily for safety.

Well which is more dangerous?

The Hexohm has at a minimum has a MOSFET, wiring, etc. A Mechanical has none of this and are direct contact. With an unregulated Mod like the Mosfet if there is an overload the MOSFET would pop. But that wouldn't guarantee it would pop before you batteries would vent.

In any case an unregulated is a bit more forgiving than a Mech. You do need to know what you are doing if you want to vape on Unregulated or Mech's, just abide by the rules and you're fine. I don't recommend either of them for a first mod.

My two bits for what it's worth. Put the Hexohm away for now, get a regulated Mod and then after a few months the Hexohm would be perfect for the entrance of the Rabbit Hole ;)

that or just the opposite side of the mod from the fire button. if it has a potentiometer its regulated VV and is fairly safe but will have no on/off switch or any of the usual saftey features found on most cheap chinese mods.
but even though i say fairly safe, you have to have some decent knowledge to not blow the board or vent the batteries

Congratulations @Vape-kid04660!
You scored some awesome vape gear. But they are really for advance users who have knowledge of battery safety (as it pertains to the mod), how to build and wick (as it pertains to the atomizer) and ohms law (as it pertains to both pieces of equipment).

I would recommend you set it aside for a few months. Come back to it when you have more Vaping experience and learn more about what you have there. Your other option is to sell it. They are both pretty desirable.

What are you Vaping on now?

Not familiar with a smok "silent."

I assume it had a tank with prebuilt coils that you would screw in to the base of the tank.

Graduating from a sub-ohm tank (as described above to a dripper like the goon that you found is a big step. If you had another device you can use while learning how to use a dripper that would be great. To solely rely on the goon as your all day vave is gonna be difficult for someone with no experience in building and wicking coils.

The reason i believe it looks different than what most people are used to is because this is a V1. Which has the OKR-T/10 board A 50 watt 10 amp chip and one of the workhorses of the regulated boards. To be sure is why I asked for a pic of the inside.

CRAP i didnt even think of it being a v1. Which it is base don that dial, doing a google seacrch for image sof the v1, that dial matches a v1 perfectly

so that is an oldy but still nice, but you have to build very very properly for that with a 10 amp limit

Thanks for the pic. You apparently have a V2 with an older style pot. That definitely Is a OKL-T/20 Board. Which means it is a 20 amp 110 to 120 watt board. They provide you with a nice smooth vape. But a few of things to watch out for. I do not see a pfet so no reverse battery protection. So be extra careful of your batteries orientation. I can not tell if battery sled is marked If it is follow the plus and minus If not then check the color of the wires soldered to the top of the battery sled. Most builders use red for positive and black for negative.
Another item is no on/off switch so take care with how you carry your mod. So no accidental button press while carrying in a pocket.
As for the atomizer the first thing you need is a ohm tester to check what build is on there. If you want to replace the coil keep the build above .2 ohms.
The dial on the side is what you use to adjust the power heating the coil I recommend you start by turning it all the way counter clockwise. Then slowly clockwise frequently trying the vape until you get the flavor and vapor you like.
There is no need to be afraid of your new mod but a health dose of caution is always called for. Just take it slow and You will be enjoying your vape in no time.
I will let others chime in on what their favorite batteries are.

Good choice on not using the old batteries. When you can afford the batteries one recommendation I would make is get 4 of them from a reputable vendor on line. (2 in use and 2 charging keep them married) Also save up for a charger if you do not already have one. Altogether it will probably run you about $40.

There was a charging kit on amazon with I think 3 sets of batteries and a charger all for about $27 plus $10 shipping

*BUZZER SOUND AS A BIG RED X FILLS THE SCREEN*

No, just don't do it, Ebay and Amazon have the worst track record of getting fake and/or cloned batteries. I'd say look into buying at least 2 pairs of Sony VTC5A's, Samsung 25R's, or LG HD2/HD2C/HD4 batteries for that HexOhm

Buying online
US/Canada/Mexico
Liionwholesale.com
imrbatteries.com
illumn.com
orbrtonic.com
RTDVapor.com

UK/EU
fogstar.co.uk (UK)
batteriesplus.co.uk (UK)
eu.nkon.nl (Netherlands)

you can find a charger at any of those vendors as well. Maybe a Nitecore i2 2bay
