I was outside on a break the other night, at work. Had 2 vapes with me, a kid (20 yr old) comes over and starts talking about his vape... while smoking a cigarette. Then he started talking about how good a smoke is, at certain times. THEN he started talking about the FDA, and how he sides with, and believes in them, because they say ecigs are bad. My jaw dropped. I said to him, "You're not serious!"
Him: "Hello, we work in a pharmacy!"
Me:
Him: Well, they'd never approve all the drugs we work with, if they didn't help people.
Me: I stopped and remembered his dad is a Dr, so of course, he'll go along with whatever his dad says, realizing not all Dr's feel the same way about ecigs, that my own doc does, and to not get into a long discussion about how drugs get approved, the good, bad and ugly of it.
Me: So you smoke, because of the FDA? Then I went on about BT and BP and how the FDA wants their own share of everything. Even tried throwing the word Chantix into the mix, and he was not having any part of it.
He shook his head, stood by his belief in the FDA. I told him to go talk to the guy that teaches pharmacy law in some classes that are offered at work. Once you get him going on stuff like that... I have a ball talking with that guy.
Some people refuse to try and understand. When I hear other people express interest in vaping, they usually mention "But, it looks like too much work." Then they start talking about explosions.
All we can do is try. Then there are 2 people there, that I've seen smoking, that now carry only their vape. There's still hope.
