Need Advice on DNA 250 Mod

Hey Folks,

I'm thinking of buying a new custom or regular DNA 250 mod. I am wanting to know the performance and safety differences of going with a triple 18650 vs a lipo. Battery run time, amperage limits, and how that will effect my actual vape experience. I'm a little leery of lipos after reading about them and seeing how they vent. Also though, I have seen many with 100C ratings which leads me to believe they handle better and are not pushed as hard. That being said if something does go wrong I don't want one near my face. Can you guys weigh in on the benefits and drawbacks of each?

Thanks Fam!

I'm a tad late... It's going to depend on tons of factors. LiPos and 18650's have different chemistry and thus different discharge characteristics. I have 4 200's and one 250. My 250 is the Triade, I don't push it terribly hard, and I use HG2's. Battery life is amazing. My one lipo is my first 200, almost 2 years old and still rocking. I know the C rating and battery, and I do trust pushing that one hard more than others.

What I find is that LiPos drop to around 3.8-3.7 rather quickly, but then they stay around there until you're down to about 10%. The discharge characteristics make utilizing a LiPo through it's whole charge, IMO superior to 18650's. Now their are more factors than that.

You also will likely see more battery sag when live monitoring 18650's but it shouldn't be a problem. And if you want current, there are batteries that can put it out now more safely by LG. Just small capacity. My LiPo is 1200 mah, and it feels like an HG2 for run time... not enough.

If I were you, and you are prepared to really get into one. If you are committed to vaping and like the chip, you can't go wrong. I would explore custom options if you go LiPo, as you'll get what you want, and can get some gigantic batteries that are high quality. If you go 18650, just make sure you research the mod. Some, like my DNA 200 Wismec have insufficient specs for wiring. I've never had an issue, but its something that I keep in mind. I run VTC4's in it. I also had to adjust the screen ribbon from the factory.

I love my Triade 250, though it doesn't see much use. If I didn't get so into series boxes and PWM, I would have pulled the trigger on a big ass LiPo 250 box by now. I think Mad Modder has ones with gigantic LiPos... there are a few reputable companies with them. It's gonna be a bit of a premium, but you'll get what you pay for.

And If you like internal charging, which I will only do on a DNA Mod, the 250 is key. 2 Amp charging is a big difference.

Good luck, sorry to be late to the thread! I'm busy, but I try to drop in!
