A discussion about Diketones, Acetoin and popcorn lung. Help me figure this out.

So like many of you I took up vaping because I wanted to stop the amount of damage I was doing to my body through smoking. Everything (in my mind at least) seemed to point to vaping being less harmful than tobacco. I mean there were some scare stories that kept coming out and I still see in the papers here (UK) about devices blowing up and there apparently being no reason for it to happen or a child becoming sick because of ingestion of ejuice. I saw them for what they were, fear mongering, but these latest stuff about Diketones, Acetoin and popcorn lung can be quite scary especially if you don't understand anything about the differences between vaping and smoking.
Now the term popcorn lung and the story behind it being linked to Diketones in buttery/creamy flavourings with popcorn, hence the name, struck me as logical and pushed me away from using certain flavouring. In fact it spurred me on to make my own juices that I think will be safer. Here's the thing that has left me questioning the validity of the story, I watched a video by Suck My Mod that was talking about this and he claimed that the number of people who were actually afflicted with "popcorn lung" was only 8 people (may have been more). Also there was something stated about there being more of these ingredients they're trying to steer you away from in cigarettes than in any flavouring available for vaping.
Basically I would like to know if anyone has any information linked to this subject that could help us all stand a little clearer on what's what.

There's nothing to figure out..... while all the bad stuff is true...... or at least theoretically possible. ... there are no actual cases.

THEY are exaggerating a risk to scare and confuse.

FWIW oxygen and water. ... under certain conditions are among the most hazardous materials on the planet...

You gonna stop breathing or drinking.

Diketones basically are the buttery flavoring.

Far as I know, all cases of popcorn lung involved people working in factories dealing with the buttered flavoring used on popcorn. There was only one case of Popcorn Lung that didn't involve factory workers, a person who ate several bags of microwave instant popcorn daily for something like 20 years.

Yep and only a few cases of popcorn lung with factory workers.

In 2000, the Missouri Department of Public Health discovered that eight employees at the Gilster-Mary Lee popcorn plant had developed popcorn lung.

After years of investigation, a link between inhaling diacetyl vapours and contracting this lung disease was found.

Those who eat large amounts of popcorn are also at risk – in 2007, a Colorado man who are two bags of popcorn a day for 10 years developed popcorn lung.

i wouldn't worry too much about it (imho) because the flavor venders for the most part do try to 'keep it clean' in regards to what can harm you.......1 of the few industries who listen to their customers demands.

if you were a smoker before,, you consumed a lot more of the Dic's than you are vaping.

the popcorn lung imho,, was more about ambulance chasers banking... they are aiming at coffee roasters too.,, bakeries wouldn't surprise me at all.

A 2014 publication found that diacetyl was present in samples of many sweet-flavored electronic cigarette liquids, though at levels 100 times lower than that of tobacco smoke======so if someone tries to educate you on someone in the hospital with this condition,, ask if they ever smoked before letting them just blame vaping.---------no reason to let past activities be the bad guy of current activities.

I'm well aware of the lobbyists that are acting on behalf of corporations and businesses to get their product allowed. Glad someone else understands there are nefarious characters out there only in it for profit. I just wanted some people to chime in with some case studies or some relevant articles about the content's of vapour against the contents of tobacco smoke. Thanks for sharing that video btw, I have seen it before but it may be useful to others here :)
