Congrats on your success. I'm new here as well and put the cigs down 3 weeks ago when I picked up a mod and haven't smoked since. I tried 6mg for a day and it wasn't enough so went to 12 and it's working for me. Smoked 1 1/2 packs for decades.Hello Everyone, I am new to the forums having been gifted the SMOK AL85 by my wife yesterday and I smoked between a half-pack to almost a pack of Marlboro Reds and regular Camels for a couple decades easily. The salesperson at the vape shop REALLY discouraged me from going any higher than 12mg Nicotine in my e-juice selections and stated that the mod will kinda enhance the nicotine due to atomizing it really well (or something like that) and I should really try 12mg first, if I wasn't happy or felt it was not enough nicotine to come back and she would adjust it.
Well, I haven't had a cig since we got home yesterday afternoon and I feel fantastic really. The baby alien mod is wonderful and best of all, the 12mg Nicotine she suggested really works great! No heavy duty cravings, no sensation of wanting to light up either. I recommend 12mg to anyone trying to quit who smoked Reds or Camels, it really is satisfying.
The real test for me was this morning when I had my first cup of coffee..... No problems at all, i'm a Vaper true believer!
I just quit smoking and started vaping again 10 days ago, 12mg in a baby beast at the moment, I plan to cut down soon but for now a big rip at 50 watts when I get stressed really takes the edge off lol. With a higher vg juice it's not too harsh for me just enough really. I feel if I it was any lower I would never sit it down.
I was rolling my own cigs for 80 cents a pack so ended up smoking 1.5-2 packs a day.
I came across a shop in Albuquerque (Oasis Vape) this past weekend that will mix 36mg if that's what you want. I vape 18-20mg and subohm (currently vaping 20mg mix on 0.46 coil @36watts). But, I'm an odd duckVendors sell 18mg?

If 18mg juice is what it takes to keep you from smoking cigarettes, so be it. Whatever it takes.
I vape 12mg sub-Ohm quite a bit. Doesn't seem to bother me at all. Then again, I don't vape to make huge clouds, nor do I chain.
I don't mean this is a derogatory way, but what is the point of vaping zero nicotine liquid?
I suppose a lot of young people are vaping because think it's cool. Once the novelty wears off, they will move onto something else. There is currently a "vaping is for douche-bags" movement going on within the Millennial community, which may help douche the douches.I finally made it down to 12mg myself in my tank. For my rda, I use 6mg but I hit both of them pretty hard most of the time.
I never figured this out either. My daughter used to smoke and quit for over a year. She recently started vaping 0 nic juice because she has some friends that vape 0 nic. I guess she just likes the taste. Hell the only reason I vape is for the nicotene. As far as taste, I much prefer the taste of a cigarette, but after 2 strokes I decided to do whatever it takes to stay off 'em.
I've been quit almost 2 years now...so far, so good.
Same here!Yeah, when I started back in the 60s, smoking cigarettes was cool. Now, just being able to breathe without coughing my head off is awesome!
They can call me a "douche-bag". I have no forseeable plans to quit vaping.
I couldn't make huge clouds if I wanted, thanks to my low lung capacity due to all of that smoking through the years. I'll sometimes chain vape, but more importantly I usually need to be able to take a few quick puffs to tide me over and go back to work.I vape 12mg sub-Ohm quite a bit. My best guess, is that zero nicotine content is the result of kids who like to blow huge clouds. Low nicotine (3mg to 6mg) is the result of sub-Ohm users who are worried they will absorb too much nicotine. I don't think people are absorbing as much nicotine as they think, but I may be wrong about that. If you're not absorbing enough nicotine, you're not going to reap its benefits.
I'm getting ready to DIY my own liquids. I purchased 48mg and 100mg PG base liquids from Caroliniaextract and Nic River. I'm not making it to sell, so it won't need to be exact. 10mg to 12mg, whatever it comes out to.
Exactly! I have my Provari Ti fixed with a Serpent Mini w/16mg RY4 set to 19 watts... If I take two or three pulls off of it, I'm done for the next 1/2 hour. My VT Inbox is fixed with a Split R w/dual coils running sub-Ohm using 6mg Milkman liquid, and I can hit it non-stop. I'm actually going to put a few drops of 48mg PG base in, just to give it a bit more kick. I don't want to go through an ass-load of liquid, in a vain attempt at getting my nic fix.As far as low nic, I know from personal experience that when you're used to low-watt vaping (18-20 watts) and put 16mg juice in a dual coil rda with a big goon style chuff tip at 45 watts, you won't take too many hits before you have to put it down!

I usually see the opposite, shops sending heavy smokers who smoked MTL out the door with 3 mg and 6 mg subohm high power tanks for DL and they suck the life out of them to get a nic fix that with a lower power tighter draw MTL tank at 18 to 24 mg tank they would have made an easier transition to vaping.I always try to talk to vapers when I run into them on the streets. I spoke to 2 people who purchased their starter kits from 2 different vendors just this past week. They were both rocking the ever popular subvod. When I asked them how they were making out, they both said it was too harsh to use.
My next question was How much nicotine they were using.
They both said 18mg
I said that's way too high.
They said thats what the vendor recommended for someone trying to quit.
Vendors: Shame on you!
As us more experienced vapers know, 18 mg+sub-ohm=intense throat hit
I've seen very few people who can handle 18mg in a sub-ohm tank, and they are all experienced vapers.
It makes me wonder how many people are still smoking because they tried a setup like this.
The next time I'm in the area of either of these vendors, I will go in and speak to them about this issue, and I encourage others to relate this message to their local vendors

Exactly, they want to quit smoking. Sure way to help them fail is to start off with some of the recommendations I see here, I sure would have failed with them, I wasn't looking for a coil building hobby or 3 battery mods for 120W of clouds I just wanted a vape similar to how I smoked.Thank you! I've been saying this all the time but it's like nobody wants to hear it. Every time somebody new comes in and makes a "what do I need to start vaping and quit smoking" post, you'll have a dozen people recommending 220 aliens with the TFV8 Cloud Beast tank or an rda with dual coils and wide open air flow.
Myself, and a couple of my friends quit smoking using a simple "Buck Naked" brand pen from the tobacco shop and 18mg juice. About a year later I moved to a little better setup with .75 ohm coils and finally to a 171 watt mod with a dripper. If I had bought my current setup first, there's no way I would have quit smoking. I would have said "screw this" and went back to cigarettes.
People who are looking at vaping as a means to quit smoking as a rule aren't looking to constantly be futching with their vape. They just want to press the button and get a lung full of something a lot less harmful than cigarette smoke.
In my opinion!
Subohm? As a general rule nope. Now I do know of someone who was a 2+ pack a day smoker who subohmed 18mg but he was the exception. You generally would 1/2 that. You can dilute it down, get the same flavor in 0mg and mix them or maybe 3mg and mix but I do not recommend subohming 16 or 18mg.OK, I am new at vaping... I have an Alien with an Arctic V12 tank. My juices are all 16 & 18mg... After reading this I'm wondering if my sub ohm setup can't handle it. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (Side note; I'm on a limited budget and I'm horrible with anything mechanical, so the more simplistic, the better!)
It's simple, just pour equal amounts in a bottle and shake.Yeah, I'd be pulling out my hair if I diluted it so I'll have to figure what I can afford that will handle the higher nic levels. Le sigh.
Your equipment can handle it fine, if your lungs and tastebuds can handle it.Yeah, I'd be pulling out my hair if I diluted it so I'll have to figure what I can afford that will handle the higher nic levels. Le sigh.
I started with 24 mg in a sub tank and moved down slowly I'm at 12 now so it is possibleOK, I am new at vaping... I have an Alien with an Arctic V12 tank. My juices are all 16 & 18mg... I just keep hearing it's trashing my flavor experience and that I'd be better suited to an above ohm tank. But what do I know? Lol
...
Uh huh, I know. I'm a total special case. *LOL* Still trying to figure out exactly what I'm a case of though.
Oh and... not being used to it any more (I have RDA'd 24mg)... your setup would probably take the top of my head off.
And that's why most recommend against subbing 18mg or whatever.
Once one gets set up and settled in... nic consumption is amazingly self-regulating.
Too much? Set it down for a spell.
Feel the need for more? Hit it a couple times.
Want to retain a parking spot for your hat? Don't drip the hard stuff.
I'm still smoking because vendor gave me 18 mg- I thought ecigs were too harsh for me.I always try to talk to vapers when I run into them on the streets.
