You might could, but why? there are so many good mods to choose from now. Variety is the spice of life after all.

i ask this because,i see a lot of people using it just for a pride, not for needed, its become something to show off, like gadget etc

the use of vaporizer is to change our bad habit (cigarette) to e cig (healthier),right?

we can use the same cigarette (e.g marlboro) untill we die,why not for mod?

I would suspect most people who have tried vaping do just use one or two devices, but you are on a vaping forum,..so you are dealing with some hardcore hobbyists here....and like all hobbyists we tend to be a bit extreme, but truth be told it is the hobbyists who are responsible for the advances made in vaping...alot of long time vapers get over the fever of buying and collecting and you will see them selling off their collections and setteling into just a small handfull of gear.

I second what @pulsevape said.
Additionally, you have to bear in mind when alot of us started it was hard to find a regulated device with more than 12w.
So many of us have us used mechanical mods and had one or 2 12w regulated device in case one broke.
These days the offerings are less expensive, and higher quality.
Truth be told, the average non hobbyist can get by with 1 device. But I would still advise them to grab an inexpensive backup. If that one device breaks you don't want to go back to the cigarettes.
That exact scenario is what made me a hobbyist. Well, that and being influenced by vape forum hibbyists.

yep,but there is a "stop" with wattages, for example 100W is enough,if you assuming in the future people will create 500-1000W,for what?for making "real cloud"?

For ever mod? Would have to be a mech. As i can not imagine a mod other than a TRUE mechanical that would last a lifetime or more...

Which is exactly why I'm purging my regulated devices and replacing them with mechmods.

Why purge??????
While it's true a mech is the only FOREVER. Consideration... right now IMO the best overall mod is a regulated mod....

Takes real skill to build for a quality and safe vape mechanically... all it take regulated is something to push buttons with.

I'll keep my regulated mid thank you..... the mechs are there when I want a challenge or the Shit hits the Fan.

Purging because they are just sitting on the shelf unused. I would rather see someone get use out of them. I am keeping 3 of them, but those have sentimental value.

if i could get someone to trade me my ipv 3li my ipv 5 and my ipv d2 for 3 xohm dimebox style pwm mods i would have only 1 mod basically
yes you actually can do just one mod and one mod only that can last you virtually as long as you want with some maintanence and or repair.
choice one is a straight up mech or even one with a mosfet. clean then and they could pretty much last forever. A well made rda can last forever

I have chosen to get pwm mods. every single item to build one is replaceable by me or some hobbyist out there. SOMEONE can aways make me a new pwm chip if the market really dried up on them
but they are cheap
and buying 5 or so at $10-20 a piece to stock pile should last you a life time. They are not like the cheap wisemec or joytech chip boards that die in a few months to a year. or you could go the dna route but no idea how many extra ones of those you will need laying around JUST IN CASE and that is much more pricey then PWM But if you absolutely need TC then thats the way to go

I refuse to buy just more throw away mods
i mean my ipv mods have lasted quite a while with some serious abuse, thousands - no exageration - of drops on hard surfaces, dunks in the dish water getting the button depressed acidentally for 10+ minutes or until the batteries drain. The 3li and d2 are tanks...the 5 on the other hand needs disassmebled and the fire button cleaned every few weeks at this point to keep working. But if any of their boards break or sleds what can i do but throw them away
I just broke an internal switch in my dimebox. switch still works if i use a pin to move the contact but the plastic piece broke off. I can have it repaired. I mean the switch is like $3 and then you have to remove the switch from the box and solder in the new one heat shrink it and reexpoy to the box side. I will eventually do this myself or get someone to do it for me. Plus I have 2 more dimeboxes to use as well. All of which I got at a steal. <$60 each. There really isnt much new that has come out since the dna 200. Just different wrappings for the same old same old most of which bores me and i find useless. I just need straight up adjustable power source for my atty and a being able to check the battery level is nice as well.

if you handy you can build poxes like this for under $80 in parts and even cheaper if you dont want the led. plus they now make pwm chips called ipwm that have some of the basic features of mods before they had TC like 5 click on off reverse battery protection etc. Those chips can be had for under $20

SO you can have just one mod that will last you probably forever but it will need repaired eventually and maintained

I'm new to this and going with nope on the one mod. Only took one to work one night and had that go way south on me when the coil went bad. I guess one would have worked had I taken a back up coil with me. Right now I'm using 2 and they are not anything expensive. One for a primary and the other for a back up. That and I have different flavors in both of them for when I need a break from whatever one I'm vaping on. The plan at this point is to pick up a Smok G150 to use for my main device and use my V8 Stick as my backup.

oh well only having 1 mod is that the actual question...hell no! i have 6 ADV i rotate between all day. sure I could unscrew tanks all day but why bother. I keep all 6 of my mods running all day every day. when i leave the house i take at least 2 sometimes all 6 just depends on where I am going and for how long

And if my 1 and only mod breaks even if it can be fixed..... who wants to wait

because i thought the question was more along the lines of what 1 mod can you buy that you wont need to buy another one later when it breaks.. Because every regulated style mod will eventually break in some way. Most are not serviceable unless yo buy niced custom made mods with pwm or dna chips that are built with replaceable parts I have 3 such devices called xohm dimeboxes but I have 3 throw away IPV mods that will be thrown out when they eventually break but 2 are over 2 years old and still working fine

I'm close to 2 years (i think) on my kbox mini platinum. Being all ss don't really see the body breaking. I've got 5 replacement boards for when the fire button finally stops being clicky. Maybe not for life but possibly 10 yrs or more?

one of the big problems with the one mod idea, other than what do you do if it breaks down ..is...I like to have about 3 different flavors of juice in rotation at any one time. which means I have 3 different atties filled with juice. rather than screw and unscrew them and adjust them it's easier to just have a mod for each atty.

This is the reason I can't have 1 mod.
Not fuckin around to switch flavors, just grab another mod.

2 device for me, RDTA Box and VooPoo Drag along with Mad Dog RDA.

I can't have only one because it will such a pain to change wick each time I want to change flavor.

I"m glad to see I'm not the only person that takes two or mods with him. I figure you'll never know when one of them will die, so always two, sometimes 3. And when I'm driving I'll vape them both. There are too many good juices out there to just vape the same one all day.

I see many posts here are partial to mechs like me. I also prefer mech mods. I do have a HexOhm but only because its the closest semi-regulated VV mod that hist like a mech. It also looks awesome and uses two batteries. As long as you have and ohms reader, know ohm's law to calculate your amperage, and do your homework on batteries, you should be ok using mechs safely. Mechs have gotten a bad rap lately because people who didn't bother to do the research on how to use them, unfortunately, have gotten hurt. Having a build with a resistance your batteries can't handle, not investing on an ohms reader to calculate the ohms and any shorts in your coils, buying cheap batteries, using old batteries that have compromised wrapping, putting tanks with a flush pin on a hybrid mech, putting a mech with a very soft trigger in your pocket, buying a cheap mech that is as thing as a s soda can and has no venting holes -- all things that could have been avoided, if only the person using them, would have bothered to learn how to use them properly. Otherwise, mech mods can be perfectly safe if the user is well informed on how to use them. Many people prefer mechs not only because they are cool and they love the aesthetics and simplicity of mechs, but because they hit differently than a regulated device and the vaping experience is different.

we can use the same cigarette (e.g marlboro) untill we die,why not for mod?

But you have various lighters, ashtrays, etc. If you ever did RYO cigs you probably had various rollers, cig cases, etc.

I'd personally consider the cig to compare more directly to your liquid than your mods, personally. Mods compare closer to all the 'other' bits, imo.

As for why multiple, ignoring that: Convenience. Chasing a dream of better. Better aesthetics, better size, better chipset, better controls.

Yea, some is bragging/pride/show/just hoarding. If it makes me smile to see, why not? If I get excited about a neon pink mod, or a new black glass on a tank, etc, who does it hurt?

But a lot really is convenience. I take 2 devices and three bottles out of the house with me. One hits bigger/better, one fits in my pocket. If I really want a damned cigarette at some point, switching to the other, or another flavor, provides enough 'different' that it can be satiated most of the time.

But really, why not? There's no harm in a collection

There's nothing wrong with showing off your mods or with being proud of your mod collection. lol We do it all the time with clothing, cars, and other things we like to buy, not because we need them, but because we simply like them. Why do people buy several pairs of shoes when they only need one casual set, a dress set, and a pair of tennis? Because they like variety. Its only wrong when you use what you own to snob and put down others who don't have what you have. Its only bad if you believe that what you own somehow makes you better than others. I only have three devises because I like simplicity and hate having to decide what device i'm going to use. But other's have entire collections because they like the variety. Its really a matter of preference. "Truth is disputable, taste is not" (David Hume).

What does one do with a hybrid style mech when the atty threads wear out?
and they are generally in brass or copper which wear out much faster then SS.

If its a Kennedy, mail it to the manufacturer, and Kennedy will send you a new one, no questions asked!

Ohh mods are light years beyond cigs.
Even if you have to buy a new alien every 4 months or so ;)
Still less waste than the pile of butts.

After 8-8-2018?

Modmakers come and go....
Lol Kennedy has been around for years and he's not just a mod maker, he makes trophies for the NFL and other things. So he's here to stay. Many people think that their prices are outrageous, but, with Kennedy, you're not just paying for the quality, but for the lifetime warrantee. Also, their products are of such high quality, its difficult to strip anything on it. But if you do, the guarantee covers you. I went to visit the manufacturer a few months ago, and Kennedy's foreman showed me a mech that looked like it had been thrown in a tree shredder. Clearly the owner had not taken care of it plus it was pretty ancient. Yet, the foreman was still deciding whether or not to send him a new one. lol In the end, he probably did. He said that in extreme cases, where the owner was clearly extremely careless, they might question the replacement, but in general, anything happens to your Kennedy and he will repair it, or if it cannot be repaired, he will send you a new one at no charge to you.

So he has applied for an FDA approval for each of his mods and such?
If something does not happen in the interim. Vaping will pretty much die as an industry in the USA in 2018.
Kennedy can still make his trophy's and such of course.

Yes, I agree. But, if the world doesn't end, and vaping doesn't disappear in the us, Kennedy is still one of the best mech mods in the market. If you're concerned about stripped threads, Kennedy is the way to go. Also, if mechs disappear in the US, but you own a Kennedy, no worries, if you take care of it, it will last you a life time. That's how good their products are. Vaping will never disappear, it will just go underground, if it has to.

Btw, the FDA, concerning vaping, is just a parasitic agency that wants to make millions of an industry they didn't create! Its a form of racketeering since they are legally extorting money from the hard work and creativity of others, with the pretext that they are concerned with their safety.

All true.
It however does not change the probable reality we face in the near future.

I am not worried since I can fill braze, drill and retap.
Most cannot.
On regulated mods if the chip fails I can get an off the shelf DC/DC converter as used in the original Hex Ohms from an electronics supply house and convert a regulated mod to a Phex Ohm mod.
