Does it matter what USB cable I use?

I'm sure that this has probably been covered somewhere on the form but I haven't been able to find it. I cape with a smok stick v8 I tried using the supplied cable to charge it back when I first got it and I never could get it fully charged while using it if letting it charge for 6-8 hours. Finally I tried charging my phone with the cable that came with my kit and it wouldn't even send enough power to the phone to show its charging. Anyway I've been using my $5 USB cable with a 1amp Max power plug is this OK or does it really need to charge as slow as it does with smok's cable?

Here's you a late reply. I have the V8 stick and the V8 Baby stick. I haven't used the usb cables that came with either of them. To short for my taste. I have a surplus of Samsung chargers around my place with longer cables. The work just fine.

Nope i doesn't matter unless you are using the cable to move data. For power you are only using 2 wires.

Been charging my phone with my "why so short" Smok Gpriv charger and my Gpriv gets charged in my significantly longer phone cord allowing me to charge as i puff. Same deal in the car.

I have a kit in a soft pistol case I carry to work with a 10.1 inch tablet, keyboard, hard drive, and bluetooth speaker along with a half dozen Samsung chargers. I can usually find something to charge something with.

I guess my supplied cord was just faulty as I can't charge anything with it but smok does make them way too short. I've never attempted to charge and vape at the same time usually no need in it but seems a little on the unsafe side.

Really? I sit there and chief all day with it connected and charging. If it gets warm i just chill on it a bit. Have a battery charger on order didnt pick one up with my first set up so once i have that i guess ill just be charging while on road trips with the cord. I sit at 75w when vaping so im sure a much higher wattage it would get dangerously hot if i puffed with the charger on it.

Any USB cable is fine to use as it is standardised. Similar to HDMI cables, the real high price ones are just a rip off.

All Micro USB cables are designed to carry 5V, and at least 500MA (as for USB 1.0- later revisions can handle a higher current). Any Micro USB cable is fine to use and will not damage your device.

@Crunchyblack , I wouldn't use passthru too often, as not many mods offer true passthru charging. If they did, the mod would be running on a constant input of 0.5-2A max at 5V.
A lot of mods actually pause charging, and this is not good for the battery constantly changing state from charging to outputting power when vaping while charging.
