I appreciate that! The way I feel about Nuppins is "The more, the merrier"!
BTW, what's the difference between V1 and V2 other than the cap on V2 fully covering the base?

The base is the main thing that I can recall. They're a little quirky to build on with single coils, but there's some tips on builds somewhere in the thread.

Not really a problem, @The.Drifter posted a great pictorial on single coil for Nuppin quite a few pages back. I have dual Tricro coils in my Nuppins. In any case, I like a challenge.

I run a 316l fused 26 36 6 wrap for around. 2 in the Gorge.

Had a day in town today. Went to get a hair cut. Got an onion skin back and sides high and tight for the Summer tick festival. ;) :) Well, just happens a vape shop from Charleston has a Ripley outlet, right beside the barber shop. I let my wife buy me a rather little more expensive RDTA/RDA unit. It's an Ijoy Limitless.

The stock coils it came with seem to be Clapton around a flat ribbon core. Eh, not quite sure of the awg but I would guess prolly a 26/28 core and maybe 32/34 wrap, not stainless, Kanthal. The things when set up on the deck first read out at like 2.25 or so. I give it a gentle dry pulsing to tweak, tune. Once it 'settled' I was looking at the net being 0.25 very solid.

The guy in the shop told me about a 'secret' from 'back in the day', he was running 0.06 and explained how he was and not risking a pipe bomb. He asked me to point out where his wicks happened to be in his RDTA. I had to look and look, and look again. *chuckles*

At any given, once he explained the 'secret' it made a bit of sense. Yes, it had to do with what he used for wicks. ;) :) Hard to grasp at but I hit off one of his tanks after politely asking of course, just to get an idea what he was doing. Oh my! Whew! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet effing vape, lucious clouds, nearly filled his shop. Not that I need that constantly. He showed a video of just tapping the fire button using what he uses as wick, the mod seemed locked on as the coil kept making vapor.

The material he uses is nothing a lot of the "now" generation of vapers would even think about using. Nah, they want cotton or rayon, or stainless mesh, steel cable. *shaking my noggin* i need to get something going on to go buy the material, it's a phenomenon. :D :) :D

I'm pretty sure there is no authentic Max Goon - sounds like another foreign variation to me

Here you are, sugar. I am not going to say it is for 100% sure authentic, though a few different Youtube reviews mentioned them as being from 3FVape. They have the Custom vapes "Thundercat" logo on them and the video reviewers mentioned this was a sign they're authentic. The underside of the deck does carry the Goon name and the model name Max, plus a 'run' number. As far as I'm aware and know, all things point to it being authentic. If it isn't well I'll put that in my Custom Goon brass 24mm & vape corrected. :)

I own two 24 MM Goons, 2 LP Goons, two Baby Goons (22mm) all authentic - all squonkified

I'm missing two baby Goons. Waiting to get some parts for my one LP. I like the 24mm ones, think the brass one is 22 though. I don't have calipers and can only go by what I'm trying to 'member what the pr write up said of them. Of course, pr and advertising, even politicians, preachers can all tell you any old story and have it stick. Apologies if that seems offensive, not meant as such but merely stating obvious fact. You can 'hear' or 'see' any thing at all, doesn't mean it's true, doesn't mean it's not either which leaves a huge chasm of subjectivity gaping wide open. *sighs* Somewhere I had a point, one that was relevant even. Did my train of thought go North or South? * ambles on * :)

I found this nice chart on another forum (aussie vapers) that I believe is a good visual aid since we're getting many new squonkers...btw, I is a newb too!

Quartz rods. They are rather expensive to buy as well. Not merely stuff you can go pick up off the ground or mine out for yourself. They're cut and polished out a certain way. You then use a dremel to cut them to fit, sand them 'roughed up' and wrap your coiling wire around the quartz rod. He suggested looking into specialty science vendors to locate them for sell at around $7-8 USD each and usually minimum order of 50.

ETA:

A quick search and i found two different vendors so far that carry quartz rods that seem 'machined/processed' out to what one needs to use them as wick material. These vendors both carry what seems a 'standard' 4 foot long rod size in various diameters, they also have quartz tubing although not sure I would try the tubing over the solid rods.

Number one and two . It does not seem either require any minimum orders, ergo one could order 1 four foot long rod and have wick that lasted nearly forever. You cut to size as per need per each deck. He said what he does is hook one part of his wire to the positive connection off the deck's block and wraps the rest down to ground on the deck itself, around the rod. It has to be wrapped around the rod to retain tightness and be the exact proper size, not too far apart nor too closely wound together on the coils. From what he explained quartz is not conductive but very porous and wicks like a champ.

Adding further: Found a thread here as well. Yes, he did mention the risks of inhaling quartz from the cutting. He stressed a need to use caution, and rinsing the 'wick' itself off well prior to use as a 'wick'. You cut it then clean it, then put it into the atty. You do double and even triple check it is clean without quartz dust before using it. I took a hit off one tank he was hitting on that had quartz wick. It kicked much butt, very clean taste, very lush and heavy vapor but cool.

Also located a Reddit article / post / thread which has a fair amount of info on it.

With that, i'm off to the rack. Need to go help take three large dogs into town tomorrow for their rabies shots. Yay, such great joy i have. :)

Well as the maker of the Goon, 528 Customs, has never sold a product called the Goon Max combined with the fact that the prestigious website 3FVape of China is selling them as "styled" for a mere $7.99 I'm gonna call it a knock off for sure

Quick question about the Nuppin: Are the V2 better atties than the v1?

The only real difference is that the top cap on the V1 sits on top of the deck, on the V2 it hugs the deck and sits flush with the mod

Deconstructed coffee is height of fashion here. Apparently Melbourne back alley cafes serve the most expensive coffee in the world

That's the only diff - that "flange" at the bottom.
What's AWESOME is that the caps and AFC's are interchangeable, so you don't have to worrry about it if you got a V3 with extra caps but find a V1 base - all good.

Ok squonkers, what's your favorite subtank or RTA that you use when not squonking? I have had this tobeco 25mm SuperTank RTA since it was released and it still kicks Ass! Looks good on my GeekVape Mech pro too!

My god, look at the size of that thing!
I tried a geekvape tank for a hot minute, but it was just a leaky pain in the ass, reminiscent of my kayfun days.
Looking back, I'm struggling to see why I thought it was a good idea vs. squonking lol

I primarily use them at work - I just don't have time to be mindful of how I treat my vape. Need to be able to just shove it in my pocket when I gotta move, etc.

I do bring at least one squonker with me, but it stays at my desk

When I go to bed at night, I use a Petri 22mm RTA - that thing simply will not leak no matter what

It's all novelty/fringe shit, does give exceptional pure taste, but a total PiTA to work with.

Have you tried any Al2O3 (BD13) wicks? Here is my old Kraken with a pair, that build didn't work out too well as the coils really need to be hot wrapped onto the wick.

Actually, I do use some assorted drippers for flavor testing DIY mixes.
