Avocado 24 beginner tips?

Hello all, I just bought my second rba, and as I'm relatively new to building and wicking, I'm hoping someone could help me prevent dry hits and leaking? My first was a sense herakles rta-2, and started looking to spice up my experience with an rdta. Thank you all very much :)

Very nice choice. Love the avacado 24.
As far as builds go, it'll take any build. you can start with a standard 3mmID dual coil set up of whatever wire/guage you usually use. For wicking, i suggest having the cotton go just into the holes and not all the way to the bottom of the tank.. and don't overstuff the holes, leave room for air to escape so it can wick properly. Filling is easy, just slide the cover of the fill area over and fill it up.

To add on to SirRichard's post, to avoid dry hits you will need to tilt it while hitting on it so juice is on your wicks. I wick mine the same way and use a piece of wire or a pin to create an air path in the wick holes. The Avocado is a great tank, lot's of flavor and no leaks for me.

yeah tilt it back and forth to make sure juice keeps touching the wicks

I am a first time builder I picked up a standard avocado...not a 24. Seems like only difference is lack of fill holes... I use metal syringe bottles to fill it and just stick past the wicking.... I am going to run a single coil for now.

It's a good rdta. I prefer the 24 cause it's bigger and has the easy fill area. But both are good. I just posted a wicking tutorial in the rebuildable section of the forum.

If you don't have the wicks going to the far bottom don't forget to tilt it.

Pushing one of the wicks to the side of the hole so that air can enter the tank section more freely will help it wick more efficiently.

Don't overstuff the coil(s) or the juice holes.

I'm using cotton candy wicking.... so far it seems great. Easy to work with and wicks very well

Good choice on the tank! If you do have any problems just stick with it..once you figure out what works for you, it is very reliable.

There are a few tips and tricks that are necessary when wicking the Avocado 24. First of all, I have every different type of Avocado ever made, and I have a love affair with each of them. Each has their pros and cons, but all of them are amazing atomizers, and to this day remain my favorite all day banger tank. I have TONS of experience with each one, and have tried any and every wicking method, an insane variety and number of builds, and have vaped gallons of juice through them all, especially the 22 and 24.

Ok, so when it comes to the wicking, obviously the amount of wick you have wil vary depending on the ID of the coil. However, the size of the actual wick tail ging down into the tank MUST remain a constant, no matter what size ID you are using. You can even trim the tails at an angle, so the end of the tails have a point to them almost. I do this with any ID of 3.5mm, but found it not completely necessary as long as you follow the following techniques I outline. This tail "thinning" will be even more important the larger the ID. So, the tail lengths of the wicks should be long enough so they protrude about 3or4mm beneath the deck. So in other words, while looking at the filled tank from the side, you should only see 3or4mm of wick tail hanging down into the glass. It is completely unecessary and counterproductive to make them any longer than this. Simply tilt the device toward your face while vaping, with the coil and wicks facing you, and it will wick nonstop as you tilt and vape it. Secondly, after you pull the wick through the coil, thin out each tail using metal tweezers, by simply "combing" the wicks out, starting at the end closest to the last wrap of the coil, and out toward the end of the wick tail. Do this a few times, thinning the wick, and at the same time, fluffing it up a bit. Lastly (and most IMPORTANTLY), after juicing up the wicks, and filling the tank, use something small, like a 1mm screwdriver, or a thick gauge piece of wire, a paperclip, whatever, anything that shape and thickness....lol....and use it to push the wick sitting in the wick hole to the side a bit, making an ever so slight gap, allowing air to travel to and from the tank. This small gap between the entire wick and the side wall of the wick hole GREATLY improves wicking capability, allowing air to travel freely, preventing any sort of air lock or vacuum effect within the tank. (This last technique should be used on ANY RDTA you vape on, trust me).

Welp, I am sure if you follow these tips, you will have nothing but a delightful experience with the Avocado 24. It is a truly stellar piece, ENJOY! As always, Keep Cool and Vape On! CHEERS!

I use 5 wrap 26 ga KA1 on a 4mm bit for an ohm, cut the wicks off at or just over the sides of the tank and cut a point to the wicks by starting the scissor cut at the center of the wick pointing down to the base, then another at the center pointing to the top of the coil. This produces a pointed wick tail which enters the holes without sticking out of the bottom on the deck or obstructing juice flow. You should see air bubbles at both tails while vaping or its not wicking correctly.....Thin the tails some more!

Both O-rings on the ceramic single coil adapter were destroyed by citrus Ejuices, I run mine without them without encountering any problems. The seal for the deck fill door also swelled and fell out, I fill that hole with cotton when I re coil and use the now easily accessible holes of the single coil adapter to refill. This tank has been in my daily rotation for almost a year now and never fails to vape. I have yet to even open the spares envelope.

My Boreas cannot come anywhere near this record of reliability therefore it sits on the table by my chair.

I couldn't agree with you more on the reliability, ease of use, and I will add, the freaking insane flavor the Avocados boast. I suggest you open that spares envelope pal, because in it you will find 2x tiny o rings, made for the ceramic block for team single coil! It's cool that you don't "need" them actually , but if it were me, I'd want to use them, if not just to get that satisfaction I get every time I feel and hear that "snap" into place , heh. I have never had a citrus juice damage any o ring on any device! That's crazy ! I have heard stories of certain citrus juices damaging plastic tanks however, like on the original innokin I sub tank (which oddly enough was my first ever sub ohm tank, but I opted for the isubG, specifically for this reason , as I love a good limeade flavor !) Anyways, I have drifted off topic, as usual, and rambled on for an eternity , I'm good at that....so keep cool and vape on! Cheers!
