I recently started to vape within the last 3/4 monthes. I started with a ipv4 with an arctic V8 tank that used atomizers.
I recently just bought the Limitless interchangeable box mod. And the limitless color changing Rdta.
This is my first time ever using a dropper and none of friends do either. What type of prebuilt coils are best there are so many different brands and styles.
I currently am vaping around 100w.

Welcome to VU!

Advanced Vape Supply has some really good wire. My personal favorite (currently) is the Clapton and Fused Clapton. I have no experience with the Alien wires or more advanced yet. I just spun out my first Staggered Fused Clapton last night and haven't vaped on it yet, so no input on that one (yet).

I personally prefer SS316L wire over KA1 or Ni80. SS316L also supports wattage mode or TC mode.

What should I look for in resistance? With my arctic v8 tank on my limitless mod .
It's reading
.22ohm and 4.68v -4.88v at 100watts.
Also what about cotton wicks I've been seeing a lot about cotton bacon online.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think the cotton bacon is over rated and priced because it is "made for vaping".
HOWEVER --- There are a lot of people that prefer it over "JP cotton sheets". --- To each his own.

I personally use Ko Gen Do cotton sheets (Large) from Amazon and can make it just as fluffy as the cotton bacon. I also do not get "cotton taste" from it as others do. Again --- to each his own.

My recommendation --- get some of all of it (that is what I ended up doing) --- figure out what YOU like. It all comes down to what YOU like and want to spend.

With the Limitless Color Changing RDA setup, it will really come down to what you are looking for. Flavor or "Clouds bro clouds".

The wattage that you vape at comes down to amount of wire you have in your build. The more wire the more wattage it takes to heat up those coils.
I'm not the most technical on this side, so I'll call in @SirRichardRear to help converse more on that and the battery topics. There are others with just as much input as Richard, but I don't recall all of their handles yet.

The other two that I already linked in also will know the details of that question.

AND -- BY ALL MEANS --- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD AUTHENTIC BATTERIES!!!!

Aliens are my go to coil for day to day vaping. Easy to build and flavor city. Some of the bigger badder builds work great but always find myself vaping on simple aliens. Although I am really digging on some staple aliens I made right now.
Damn it Whiskeywarrior --- your going to make me build those Alien coils this weekend aren't you. :D

As @PhantomOp stated Cotton Bacon IMO is over rated cause it is marketed as "Vaping Cotton", my go to is Koh gen Do but as he stated, try it all and use what you like.

I started out buying Clapton then Clapton wire. I wanted a better variety so I started spinning my own, it's actually pretty easy to make fused claptons and you have better selection and better wire quality control. All that and much, much cheaper. My go to is 317L SS 28g-32g core wire with 36g-40g wrapping wire. This provides for excellent response, performance and a very thick, flavorful vape.

The best quality wire is
  • Kidney Puncher
  • Atomizer Wick
  • Temco
My favorite 18650 battery is Sony VTC5A, excellent balance of performance and battery life with 25a and 2500 mAh. Always stay within the batteries CDR amp rating, NOT pulse, pulse is literally nothing more than something they pulled out of their ass. For all questions with recommended batteries and battery safety referr to Mooch. Stick with only Mooch's recommended batteries and stay up with his Blog for he is the Vaping worlds Battery God.

I would also aim your coils you build at what your currently Vape at with factory coils then adjust from there. Get familiar and use www.steam-engine.org, don't focus on "how many wraps", focus on the Ohms. We see a lot of posts with "how many wraps should I ..... ", it's Ohms, wraps are just what you use to obtain the desired Ohms and for that refer to Steam Engine.

Bottom line play around a bit, find what you like for that is most of the fun. Remember each Atty and Atty/Mod combination is different so you build to obtain what is best for that combination.

Building is lots of fun, inexpensive and very rewarding.

Don't be afraid of spinning your own wire, it's pretty easy. Just get some good quality ball bearing fishing spinners, a good high speed drill and some quality wire. With just a little bit of practice you'll be knocking out good quality Clapton wire in no time, much, much better than the pre-spun wire you get from UD, Geek Vape, etc.

Check out this vid, this was the game changer for me -

@r055co --- Just because I've not purchased any yet, or even researched it... What is the biggest different from SS316L and SS317L. Why do you prefer SS317L ?

Big reasons why I prefer 317L is it seems to last longer, makes sense due to 317L has a bit higher resistance to corrosion. That and it also has a tad higher electrical resistance, not much over 316L but enough to get me one less wrap at times.

I've also tried 304, 321 and 430, I just don't like them. For me they seem to have a funny taste, especially 321. 316L and 317L do best for flavor production IMO.

Thank you! I've preferred the flavor production from SS316L over KA1 or Ni80. I can taste the wire with those sometimes. I'll have to get some 317L and give it a try.

There are tons and tons of prebuilt coils available.
Basically there are 2 types
- cheap ones that are massed prouced which maybe fine and may not. I think most of them are probably fine. The main objections are:
1. they are quite generic and a different dimeter or number of wraps may work better for your particular rda/rta
2. questionable materials used - but this is a matter of serious debate as to what is good enough and what isnt
3. being mass produced just like anything els eyou will get imperfections and duds

- custom built ones. these can be quite expensive but can be quite worth it. Extremely complicated builds take lots of time and just cant be mass produced
they can be built to the precise diameter and wraps for you particular rda/rta.

Theres many reasons to choose cheap mass produced coil or custom built ones

Now what most people feel is the best of all worlds in terms of flavor and clouds is some type of clapton coil. The majority of people I see post here boast about well made alien claptons. And most people agree that aside form aliens a standard or fused clapton coil is the next best thing

So if your trying to figure out where to start...start with claptons, fused claptons, or aliens

It is also important to realize. You say you're vaping at 100w. Well thast for the coils you are using now. Every coil is different. More wraps different owns all change what wattage works best for you. You may find that a fused clapton at 60w is what works for you. Do not expect that 100W is whats going to be best just because that is what is working for what you have now

Another thing to keep i mind is you can buy some coils as spooled wire. Advancedvapesupply.com sells 316 SS wire spools of clapton and fused clapton wires along with some other types. This allows you to make complex coils fast and simple that are specific to your rda/rta.

I have had good luck with the faris wheel container from FastTech. 80 coils for $12. They have SS316L, nicrome 80 and Kanthal A1. I make most of my own coils but for the price of them from FT I could not afford not to buy a couple hundred and about 15 different sizes and ohms. I have had good luck with them. CHEERS!

So just to drop my 2 shekels in. I kinda prefer the fused clapton myself. You can get a wide variety of prebuilts at Gearbest, for those of us too busy (read lazy) to wrap some wire around a drill bit. They have from UD, Demon Killer, bunch others. They aren't the fancy handmade ones, but they are good quality and you can get a shit ton of them cheap cheap cheap.
Since I saw some cotton talk too, I'm a big fan of Native Wicks. Far superior to bacon and kgd. It's like 6 or 7 bucks for enough to wrap a Christmas tree. Vaping garland.

Hey Jives There's aliens in the demon killer 48 pc wheel thingie. The worked just fine for me and the whole 48 coils was like 12 bucks, maybe less. Not handmade, but cheap. It also had hive and a bunch of different claptons. Check Gearbest man. I just got like 200 coils in about 10 different styles, cost me like 35 bucks I think. They have staples, staggered, all kinds of crap.
