Here's what I do for the Single Coil Deck.

I like using cotton Bacon because it has no taste, it doesnt taste like crap and if you dryhit it has better potential to hide that burned taste...plus it has a long life and its easy to manipulate!

Get a strip of cotton slightly .5 times bigger then the coil. Roll the end and pull it through the coil, if it has trouble getting through the coil remove some of the cotton...you should feel just a slight resistance pulling it through.

Cut the ends just after the deck, I like to cut them 3-4mm from the decks edge. Then use your tweezers or pick and fluff the tips as much as you can..

Push small bunches of strands into the pocket until its full but not packed...you want the cotton to be fluffy still and if there's alot of cotton thats not in the pocket thats okay....try cutting it so it sits on the deck around the opening...your holes should be walled with cotton so juice cant just flow in, it should be absorbed and pulled in. After you get it in the hole I like to push up just slightly up by the coil, this makes the tips in a arch pattern instead of a straight line with loose cotton on the bottom and tighter cotton on top...this makes all the cotton still loose and fluffy which helps with wicking and juice capacity in the cotton.

Paint your juice on until it is soaked then fire the coil for 1-2 seconds then drip more juice on it and repeat for 2-3 seconds....then cap it and fill it and you should be good to go.

I got a merlin on the way can't wait

I seriously have not heard a single person say they dont like it....they may say that first trying it but then find out its because they didnt remove the MTL screw....then they love it after removing it. The only con about the RTA is the capacity but theres the original to cover that!

I'm excited about making some single coil builds tbh. Can't wait!

The best part of the Merlin Mini is its a builders best friend....you will now have a reason to keep all your wire scraps...all you need now is 2"-2.5" of scrap wire and you've got a build thats good for a few months :D I love Wide Ribbon on the Single coil deck.....fill the holes the whole width thick and run it just slightly under powered....the amount of flavor and heat makes it a pretty intense experience and not many other RTA's share the same....Maybe just the Mage and Petri RTA...

I can't get a good performance out of the mage. I don't build crazy types of coils either tho, maybe that's the problem. I've got a set of twisted 26g nichrome helixed with 30g kanthal in there now and I'm not getting very good flavor. It's ok but not great. I'm also comparing it to the griffin 25 so it might not be a fair comparison.

I Don't like it!!!! so there! I said it and halfway mean it too. I've only had it for 1 day and although it is fine for MTL (the reason I bought the damn thing) it is not the MTL I like even with the air flow restrictors in place, and yes, i did try both restrictors. I will try the dual coil deck and see how it does next to the Petri RTA. I have a Siren on its way but frankly I am loosing hope in finding the one tank for all needs.

You will not find that one tank if you dont put in the time and find the build that works for each task at hand though...there isnt a one stop shop tank using the same build....what works for MTL in another tank may not work in this one..though the differences are minimal the slightest change could give a totally different experience....change it up and find something that works better in it.

Good review I will definitely put this tank into consideration im known for diving in balls deep so I think I'm going to put a lil more thought into this. I also collect to much stuff I.E. tools, swords, and guns so I really don't need an arsenal of vape stuff to. I want somthing im going to like for a long time and this seams to be a good candidate. Thanks for the info

Thx bro, I've done a bunch of other single coil reviews you can check out.

Just curious, out of all the people here that have the Merlin Mini. How do you prefer to run it? Single coil mode, Dual Coil mode, MTL, DLH? Would love to hear your opinions.

I'm not done playing with coil setup yet ... but, so far I still like the single coil setup without the airflow restrictions in it. I tried a few coil ID sizes with the 2mm airflow restriction installed, but found quickly that I do not like it. Way to MTL style for what I like. The other reason I still prefer the single coil is because I still get very good flavor (so far) and don't have to drain batteries at 60-80w. I've also only used SS wire so far in it, so that doesn't help with wattage settings at all.

10 wraps? You must me chucking mushroom clouds and filling that thing after a few pulls. Lol.

That's not as bad as what I was running in it last night! :D That is only .35ohms

Dual SS Fused Claptons

The Merlin Mini looks and sounds like an awesome rta but why wouldn't they include an extension and glass so that it could hold 4 ml? Not much different than dripping except 10x the work.

I'm enjoying in single coil mode. I'm running some twisted Kanthal 3mm coils in power mode. Ohming out at .51 and 32 watts. Flavor is great, juice consumption is reasonable, and the clouds and flavor are great.

I think a 4 ml Merlin Mini would be a better rta than the new Merlin. I guess it depends what you need. I need a 24 mm rta to fit a 24 mm mech. For someone that uses a Pico like my wife then a 22 or 23 mm atty is needed. I have a 24 mm Mage but it has some issues. I get good flavour out of it but it's kinda a cheap pos. It's build quality is horrible. Worst authentic atty I've ever bought. I don't know ofbor can't find any other 24 mm rtas. I've had 24 mm rdtas which I like but they leak when tipped over. This fine when at home or in a vehicle but I need to pocket it when at work.

Look at the original Merlin then. See if that meets your specific needs.

Just got home and installed a beaut9coil built by @raymo2u wicked her up with apple dumpling drop max vg (thanks @ej1024 ) and fired it up with coil reading .21 at 73w and i am getting loads of juice straight into my mouth....

Insight as to where im going wrong?

Also should mention I'm also experiencing lots of steaming hot liquid spraying into the back of my throat... Not that it doesnt taste amazing...just doesnt feel that awesome..

Wow, I'm rather impressed ... I just threw in the simplest of coils. Single 1.0ohm KA1 24g 3mm ID @ 11 wraps. This little atty is still throwing out some very good flavor and vapor. Very impressed.

How much cotton did you put in? Take your watts down to 50 and then work up.
