Question on the new Smok V8 Stick

I'm new to vaping so if I'm not in the right place I apologize.
I've got a new Smok V8 Stick, I guess it's considered a mech mod.
I'm trying to understand the limitations and capabilities as such.
I bought this device not because I was wanting to get deep into mechs, but because I knew I liked the big baby beast and I like the design of the stick.
Smok seems to be going out of their way to designate the coils for this device (and tank by association) as only for the stick.

Apologies for the camera quality. It reads "M2-0.25 Ohms, for 3.7V Direct Output". It comes with a 0.15 ohm installed with the same message.
Does this mean that a normal 0.15 ohm coil (like any of the baby coils offered) wouldn't work properly? I'm just trying to understand the difference mechanically/electronically.

Thanks in advance for your help gang.

I put the extra coil (0.25 direct voltage pictured above) into a second baby beast tank to try out.
I don't think it's quite as nice as the 0.15 ohm that was preinstalled.
Still trying to understand why the .25 vapes differently.

The battery is rated for 20A. A 0.15ohm coil would pull over 24 amps at 3.7, Is this safe? Also most of the baby coils except the T6/0.6/RBA seem to work outside the range of smok rated recommended and best wattages. Cant find any info about the rated/recommended ranges of the 0.15/0.25 m2 coils. Also you cant actually buy the M2 0.15 0.25 coils only a 0.3 version seems to be available. Does the battery work at 3.7V only with the m2 coils somehow? If using other baby coils does it just go from max charge 4.2v down to 3.4v? If so that would be 28amps at 4.2v for a 20amp battery 0.15ohm coil.

it's actually an AIO (all in one) and regulated. it's just not adjustable. the device will automatically adjust accordingly based on the coil. you are more then safe to just use it as it is

thats not correct. regulated mods don't use ohms law to calculate amp draw. the formula is P/V=I
with that coil the device will put out about 55 watts so 55/3.7= 14.8 amps

Cheers for the info. Wondering how does it auto adjust to the coil? Say I put an old clearo ce4 on it how would it determine the correct settings? Also each of the different baby coils available how could you tell what wattage amps etc they are running at? Thanks.

not sure as that kind of info isn't released, but most likely it reads resistance then adjusts the wattage so it's putting out 3.7 volts all the time.

Can anybody tell me the difference between the 0.15 and 0.25 coils? Thanks.

I didn't notice any particular difference on how it vaped.
I bought the 0.3 replacements and they work just fine too.

Just about the only difference is in the resistance, 0.1 ohm. (The ohm is just a unit of electrical resistance; it measures the difficulty an ampere of current has in passing a given point.) I'm not familiar with those particular coils, so there may be a difference in material used to make the wire. You should notice very little difference when using them.

I got the black kit.
I put my black goon on it with a .16 build (fused clapton). I nornally vape this at about 75-85W on reg devices.
This stick, while a bit underpowered for this setup actually is useable and the battery life is decent.
My only gripes are minor. I don't like the halloween color (orange ring on fire button) and the recharge time is long. The battery lifetime overall (charge cycles) will be better though. If it's your only device though it's a con for sure.

And no, not a mechanical by any means. Mechanical just means that. A battery or two or more and (mechanical) way to complete the circuit to an atomizer. Once you add MOSFETs, displays, etc. it's no longer mechanical. A pure FET design isn't regulated either (you control the power by your build like a mechanical device) but technically isn't mechanical.

A little late in the discussion, but here goes. I ran the stock .15's in my V8 stick and Baby V8 stick for just over 7 days. I have a bit of diminished taste due to a motorcycle wreck I was in back in '08. Last night when I was at work the flavor in both sticks started falling off. I'm actually surprised they lasted that long. Anyhoo When I got home instead of putting .15 from the 5 pack I bought I decided to put the .25 coils that came with both kits in to see what the difference would be. After both rigs were primed and let sit for about 30 minutes I tried them out. About the only difference I could come up with is the vape was a little cooler and smoother, and there may have been a little less flavor than with the .15 coils. After getting some sleep and trying them when I got up the flavor seemed fine. The vape still seems smoother.

don't know if anybody will read this... i just bought the v8 stick with the big baby tpd atomizer..there is an adapter delivered with the kit to use the normal baby beast coils... i didn't kew before that i will get another version... btw i ordered some m2 coils for it ..the only ones i could get were the 0.15 m2 ..now I'm kind of worried myself how the stick will handle them and if there is something new in the battery maybe... how does the stick handle the 0.15 coils..i would have liked to get the 2.5 but there were sold out everywhere... would you guys try out the 0.15 or better not to try out ? I just wonder how this works as it has a limit on 20 amps..

kind regards
