Bad tfv8 batch ?

Hey guys, i just bought a TFV8 Cloud Beast and I have been very disappointed coming off a uwell crown.
I have read a lot that the flavor beats the uwell crown so i finally decided to upgrade.

I have problems though. The pre-installed coil head i think its the V8-T8.... I don't taste dry hits but theres no flavor at all, and I also notice that the coil head, when I take it apart gets stuck in the chimney instead of the base.

Now, onto the V8-Q4 coil. When I twist the coilhead into the base, i noticed that it twisted in more than the V8-T8 thread-wise. Also, with this coilhead, I can freely twist the glass, but it does not leak. This coilhead is rated to be the flavor coilhead compared to the Q4, but I do not taste flavor at all, compared to my Uwell Crown with the same juice.

Also, the top fill cap does not close flush. I would have to press the swingable top fill cap downwards a little bit so that the locking tabs lock.

What should I do? I did but it at my local vape shop, but I do not know what they can do for me....They shove everything down my throat when I go there.

Thanks

I'm not entirely sure, but I think pushing the fill cap down slightly to fully close it is by design. I read somewhere that the top cap on the TFV4 would swing open very easily. They made the top cap on the TFV8 so that it requires slight pressure downword to provide tension to stop the cap from swinging open so easy.

Yes, the top cap pushing you mention IS by design.
If you go to their site it is mentioned.
As for your vape shop shoving everything down your throat, I'd shop somewhere else.
There are too many places either locally (for some) or on line that you do NOT have to tolerate being mistreated by anyone.

For your lack of flavor:
Can you please tell us the following;
What mod are you using?
What mode do you have it in?
What wattage?
What resistance is the mod reading?
What batteries and how much charge do they have?
Is this a high VG or high PG or high flavor percentage juice?
(someone always brings that us so I figured I'd toss it in)
Have you tried this tank on any other mod?
If so what was the experience like and were the settings the same as your previous mod?

I have a few of these and other than short coil life (extreme high flavor percentages and super sweet) but I haven't had any real troubles with any of mine.
I'm not implying anything is right or wrong with yours, just saying I'm lucky enough that they all work well for me.
Maybe by providing answers to the above questions we can figure out what MAY be the cause for your troubles.

T8 Coil @ 120-140W
Q4 @ 100-120W

At the moment, I have the Q4 on, reading at .17

He sold me 2 batteries, not sure what kind. They are light green in color and a white sticker label "18650 2600mAh 3.7V" Full charge.

Honestly, theres no PG/VG ratio on the juice im using.

My other mod is an evic vtc mini max is 75W lol.

I hope you can help me...I still don't know how to fix the coil head being stuck in the chimney rather than the base....somehow when i twist the base off it unscrews the coilhead off, leaving it tightly on the chimney instead. Am I not twisting the coilhead enough in the base? I swear they're on nice and I found 0% leakage whatsoever which is the only great thing about this lol.

The V8-T6 coil is rated to a whopping 260w..best recommend range from Smok is 120-180w..

That said I love mine at 125w vaping 100% VG

Also a second tank runs great on the RX200s ...love the cloud beast.. They vape great with no issues at all, except needing refilled quite often, especially chain vaping, lol

I wish I had the same experience! I'm thinking I could have had a bad one. None of the coils that came with the tank worked out of the box.
T8 gets stuck in the chimney...
Q4, when it's on, does not hold the glass together, I can freely twist the glass with some force, but it does not leak. I tried to twist the glass when the T8 is on but the glass is secured and tight for the T8
Should I go back to my local vape store and show them? Or should I try contacting Smok directly?

Ps: I'm back on my Uwell Crown... I want to love the tfv8 but man...

I'm truly sorry to hear you're having problems...
I took both my tanks apart to wash under hot water before using them the first time....noticed the installed V8 coils were both loose in the bases, lol
Anyway after washing I made sure all o-rings were seated in the proper places, and made sure the coils were screwed down tight.(primed them at this time)
Now I reinstalled the glass on the chimney and then screwed the top and bottom hardware together making sure the glass has seated on both ends, then tighten it all the up..till it wouldn't turn anymore..
Sounds like alot but took all of 10min, lol
No leaks, no dry hits, thick clouds and flavor came in great after vaping it's first full tank...
Might try this first before contacting your shop..wish I could help more, good luck, as it's an awesome tank!

I also have two of the attys...use the Oct coils most of the time, although the coils seem to not last long, when I figure the amount of juice going through them, I'd have to say they're longevity is fairly substantial.

Personally, I think the flavor is about the same as the original Crown (version 1-tank). I use 100%VG jooce, no problems with dry hits, all is fine here.

i would suggest to make sure your coils are seated tightly in the base and that the o rings are properly placed. finally i would check for a counterfeit.

I had a major leaking problem with the tfv-8 tank - would drain out the air holes almost as quick as you could fill it.

Checked every joint and seal; nothing amiss.

Tried the fixes on YouTube in case it was the coils; still pissed juice everywhere.

Took it back to the shop and exchanged for a new one (silver this time instead of black so would defo be another batch) and hasn't leaked a drop since.

I do think there are some iffy batches of the tanks - but when you get a good one it's *beautiful*

Good luck!

I feel like even among well regarded vape gear, there's still a lot of lemons. I have a CCI Maus that I absolutely love. But I cracked the glass, then accidentally cracked the replacement glass. (Both my fault, not looking for warranty coverage) I've since ordered a total of 6 new replacement glass sleeves direct from CCI and all have been too large to fit on the tank. The fit is very loose and it doesn't seal. Being anal, and having a home hobby machine shop, I grabbed some calipers and started measuring. First batch of 3 tanks were all thinner wall, and larger inner diameter than the original. Second batch of 3 tanks, same thing. CCI now wants me to send the whole tank back so they can look and see if it was machined improperly. I don't see how it was if the first 2 original tank fit perfectly, and since then all the new tanks have been larger. I've had this tank for a month and only got to use it 2 days. CCI customer service is just meh. (Which is ok, but someone seeming sorry I was having trouble wouldn't suck) I paid for the first three glass sleeves, told them they didn't work and they sent me 3 new ones right away, but those 3 didn't work either. When they asked me to send my tank back, they made no mention of shipping, which I guess they expect me to pay. Meh.

Sorry, I got sidetracked on venting. Anyhow, my point is, sometimes you just get a bad product. Especially in this industry, where most companies are relatively new, and everything is coming from China. You may just have some out of round threads or something preventing the coil from sealing. I'd start by emailing Smok and see what they'd like to do.

Based on your answers I'll say a few things.
1. Extreme high probability you were unlucky enough to get a tank that should never have passed QC.
2. You are using it well within its limits so all SHOULD have been working fine.
3. I "think" your batteries are Sony VTC5. (Real or fake is an entirely different thread)
4. For the coil being stuck in the wrong half, just carefully wiggle the glass loose and you'll have better access to grab the coil for removal.
Sorry your tank is treating you like shit.
Hopefully you can replace it.
They truly are good tanks.

* as a note anytime a coil is stuck in the chimney it usually means it wasn't screwed down tight in the base...just sayin

Yeah, I've tried a lot of different ways.......I made sure it was super super tight on the base, but its a no go, it still stuck to the chimney.
I tried to screw it in less tightly, as soon as i felt resistance and a little bit, i stopped turning and it still got stuck. Another way I tried was to screw in the coilhead directly to the chimney and then put it back together, that was no good as well. I don't know what could be wrong....I checked all the o-rings, removed them, wiped dry with paper towel and reseated, this was all done after trying it out of the box ofcourse.

I know, I really don't want to give up on it because I am the type of guy to just give up and go back on my Uwell Crown, but I have heard so many great things about this tank....I also had the TFV4 but i barely used that compared to my Crown. Only problem I have with my Crown 1 right now is with the o-rings wearing down, but thats it. Was vaping on that for a LOOONG time.

Was going to get a Uwell Crown 2 but according to some, TFV8 is on par flavour-wise with the Crown 1 (excluding some coilheads ofcourse).
And i heard that the Crown 1 might actually be better than the Uwell Crown 2....

I mean i don't mind picking up a Crown 2 since they are only like $30 ? But at the same time, I do not want to give up on TFV8 because from what I hear, its one BEAST of a tank!

I had the crown too at one time..
Gave it away when the TFV4 and Griffin RTA came out...that said the Cloud Beast is definitely top dog for me right now as it blows those tanks away, both in flavor and especially vapor (clouds) produced...don't give up! Lol

something is really off on my tank ....can you guys please check if the coilhead and the chimney is flush? mine does not completely seal. if i attach the coilhead to the base making sure the coilhead is tightly in. If I screw the coilhead into the chimney first, i get a flush seal, but i know thats not the proper way to put it together....Like I said, I've taken the 2 orange o-rings off, chimney o-ring and even the top fill white gasket and the glass and replaced them with the replacements provided. This was all done AFTER vaping it out of the box (ofcourse a quick warm rinse first!).

Any suggestions next ? I have not done anything to the coilheads since I don't get any leak issues whatsoever!

Here is a picture. you can see its not flush, and you can faintly see "give up!" right next to the tank LMAO! that was not intended ! looks like its a "Cloud Give up!" rather than a "Cloud Beast"

If it isn't leaking and everything works well, why concern yourself with it?
Don't get me wrong, my OCD says screw the damn thing in tighter however with as many tanks as I have I can tell you from experience, some glass cuts are different lengths than others.
More than likely, that is what you are looking at.
Your glass is probably just a bit longer than spec causing you to bottom out your glass before running out of threads.
That is when you are utilizing the O-ring to seal the deal.
In the event your O-ring shrinks, you'll be leaking.

Yes it does not leak. But I wouldn't say it works well. I bought it to upgrade my Crown, but the crown as of right now is giving me a better experience because I can actually taste the flavour and its great!
The flavour is muted on the TFV8 plus all the other things like the coilhead being stuck on the chimney instead of the base and all the other things i mentioned. I will bring both my Crown and TFV8 at the shop with the same juice so they can compare for themselves.
Something is off......and I really hope they can fix it for me.

Wish ya the best of luck.
By the way, I just changed the coil in one of my TFV8s and I decided to try putting the coil in the chimney first then connecting to the base.
It does indeed work (for me) and I tightened it rather snug.
Between this thread and the fact that when I first tried to put it into the base first it tried to cross-thread.
So I figured I'd give it a shot.
It works but I'll go back to doing it correctly at the next coil change.

If you're not getting great flavor, something definitely isn't right.
Hopefully you get it resolved quickly and get to enjoy your tank.

Vaped a full tank in both my TFV8's with the V8-T6 coils at 125w before the flavor really came shinning thru..

there is nothing wrong with assembling the coil to the chimney heck i remember that was the suggested method for the tfv4. just be sure its all nice and tight and the final assembly ohms close to the coils ohms. you dont want to put a .15 and have it come out .30

This is a close up of mine sitting on the RX2OOs...I screw the coil down tight in the base first, prime it, make sure o-rings are in their proper places, seat the glass on the base making sure it seats flat and finally screw the chimney section down tight...simple really, no leaks and vapes awesome!

well I had the rba deck with the preinstalled Clapton last me 3 weeks went to the q4 just now showing signs that it needs replaced after about 2 weeks, the q8? last 5 days I am also testing x4 heads now.

I need some help with my tfv8. Having leaking problems no matter what I do. Looks like it's coming through the coils not around. I have tried every fix including the seal on the bottom of the coil, changing every o ring, changing the white top seal. Nothing is working and I'm losing juice faster than I can put it in, are there any other suggestions before I throw it off a bridge?

Did you press the base of the coil into the body of the coilhead very hard?
If that doesn't work you might need to adjust the coil leads with the base off.

What coils have you tried?

can you see where it's leaking form? I haven't had nay leaks in mine. my best guess is the coil isn't all the way in?

Tried pressing the coil base in harder, same result, both the 8 and Q4 coils. Almost looks as if it's seeping through the center of the coil from inside where the base presses into the rubber seal.

maybe you have a defective one? That's all i can think of or an oring is loose

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback. After banging my head for days trying to get the tank to stop leaking, I can happily report that my tank is working great! It's amazing how quickly a leak will go away when you put the white top seal right side up...I wanted a new small tank and was determined to fix my tfv8, so I took a break and hit my local shop to pick up a Baby Beast. Gave the Baby a quick cleaning and went to fill it, that's when I noticed the direction of the top seal on the Baby. Took a chance and flipped the seal on the big tfv8, filled about half way and gave it a couple sealed/no power pulls for vacuum. Left the tank with the vents closed and vaped the Baby for a bit. Half hour goes by, looked at the former leaker noting the juice was still at the same level from when I filled it, opened the vent.....holy schnikeez it's dry!

I only use the RBA on mine, but it began seeping as well. I just attributed this to my being new to wicking it, but on mine at least, the grommet/seal that the center of the 510 goes through, was leaking. I removed the floating pin, and was shocked at how filthy the seal was.

I've had mine less than a week, and have not vaped that much on it, as I don't take it out with me, due to leaking. The grommet is actually off white, but was black with what looked like grease. It took a while to get it clean, and the oil was gritty. The Grommet appears to be a universal center pin grommet, and I added a second one to the first. I'll let everybody know how that works out.

Thanks
Hey. I just bought the tfv8 and I'm having the same problems you are. I'm able to twist the glass, no flavor, and the coil head getting stuck in the chimney. I was wondering if you were able to fix yours and if so how?

Sounds like you cross threaded it

No leaks since I added that seal. Mine also stuck to the chim, but I think the threads wore in, and its fine now. I don't understand the glass turning thing, mine is tightly fixed by upper, and lower O rings at each end of the glass.

I have actually had to take a substantial screwdriver put it in the top cap underneath the tab that sticks on the other side of the tab and bend it down words it may not be desirable butit has the desired effect the cap will finally close, snap shut bend it ust a little bit don't bend it too much
