Whats your typical wattage and coil ohm?

Ive had a couple people now tell me I vape too "heavy" and too high, and its got me curious if maybe theyre right. I wanna get something to compare myself to, see if maybe I am going too hard on it.

Typically I vape (on a regulated mod) around 0.15-0.2 ohm and around 85-100 watts, and on my series mechs I vape at around 0.45-0.5 for around 120-130 watts. Those are my everyday, all day set ups. The mechs stay at home and I usually use them there and the regulated mods come out with me, but I never go below 85 watts any more, and at home I stay on the mechs at 120-130.

Is it too much? What are you usually vaping at?

Single: .16-.24 ohm; 64-95 watts
Series: .35-.8 ohm; 76-174 watts
Regulated: .1-.3 ohm; 70-125 watts

I'm calculating these using realistic battery voltage.

To me, you're at a perfectly reasonable level. Many others have a similar approach these days, though in terms of capabilities, you are vaping heavy... ...as in, close to the maximum range of most setups. Does that mean it's too much? Absolutely not. As long as you're staying within the safe limits, vape where you're most satisfied and comfortable. But then, what do I know? My ADV is a 170w+ unregulated. XD

My personal philosophy (and this is just how I see fit to operate) is that you don't buy a mod with features or capabilities that you don't intend to use. If the max you ever want to vape at is 70w, then don't buy a 200w mod with a ton of features. Instead, put that money into a more streamlined mod of higher quality that gives you only a little more than the power you need. If you need more, get something that can do more and save the other one for when you don't need as much.

I own high-powered devices because a high-powered vape is what I'm after. That's what I most enjoy. What's the point of buying a high-powered mod if you don't intend to use the power? I don't think it's over-the-top to run a high-powered mod at... ...well, high power. That's what it's made for. What's stranger to me is running at low-power on high-power boxes... ...or under-powering coils/atties. Even crazier are people who run at higher power levels on devices that can't handle it... ...such as running .1's on tube mods.

It's only "too much" if you're surpassing the limits of your device.

Fully utilizing the functional capabilities of your mod is "just enough." If you're not even coming close to that, then your mod is "too much." I understand that people often buy TOTL mods just to know that it can do more, better battery life, aesthetics, and so on... ...and that's fine, but I think most would get a better experience using something more purpose-built for the way that they vape. It just seems wasteful to me - like buying a supercar just to drive to the store.

I guess it all depends on who you ask, though. If you're running at power levels well beyond what someone else would enjoy and be comfortable with, then it's a given that they're gonna say it's too much. But that's only because it would be for them. And conversely, their ideal vape may not be enough for you. *shrugs*

I prefer 0.3-0.5 Ohm on my regulated mods. On my single 18650, or parallel mech mods, I'm mainly in the 0.3 Ohm range. On my Noisy Crickets, I prefer 0.7-0.8 Ohm builds. Overall, I'm looking for longer battery life, before having to re-charge batteries, or change batteries. However, use what suits your preference best!

I'm in the 60 range with .5 ohm claptons on my work mod. Switch to my TC when I get home and stay around 240c at .2ohms

I usually run 50-60 watts on. 3ohm (dual clapton) and I pretty much keep to this on RDA and tank. You vape just like my hubby, same ohms and watts, but as for too much? No hon, you're fine. I have found he goes through way more juice than I do though. I bump up my watts when I have enough eliquid to accomodate.

Nope, I don't think it's too much. If you're happy vaping at those power levels, go for it. From what you wrote I have the feeling you understand battery limits so you're safe that way.

One thought I have is that if you're vaping a whole lot of juice per day you're inhaling that much more of any not so great chemicals that may be in your juices. Do with that what you may, I'm not judging, just tossing it out there :). And if that's keeping you from smoking, IMO it's still healthier.

These days I almost always vape between 40-45 watts, be it regulated or mech but mostly regulated. Build resistance is typically between 0.2 and 0.7. Resistance doesn't really matter unless we're talking about mech mods. I design my builds (wire gauge, number of coils, number of wraps per coil) more to a preferred heat flux and heat capacity rather than resistance. 40 watts at 0.2 ohms is pretty much the same amount of vapor per second as at 0.7 ohms. I vape about 10-12 ml per day.

I appreciate all the replies.

Just to be clear, Im not askin from a safety standpoint. Im very informed about battery safety, on ohms law, how to build, blah blah blah, all that stuff. Im more asking to compare vapor volume I guess. I guess Im a "cloud chucker" without really trying or wanting to be. I just prefer a thick, dense, and warm vape. I like to feel it expand in my lungs and whatnot. I just cant get down with cool, thin, vapes. And since I also tend to chain vape, Im always inhaling a lot of vapor. When I was first trying to quit smoking and only had my Subox I was dual using the whole time because it just couldnt provide the kind of vapor I liked. Once I got my RX200 I pretty much quit overnight because I was able to crank it and get a warm and dense vape out of it.

For me the issue is more the combination of features robot zombie. In vape at 40-45 watts but I like multi-battery mods. In regulated mods it's hard to find 2 and 3 batt mods offering less than around 100 watts, at least AFAIK.

Then there is form factor. I love my RX200's for that and the 3 bats they hold. And at $40 a pop I'm certainly not wasting much money for the extra 150'ish watts I'll probably never use :)

This I totally agree with. I think it's human nature to think 'my way is the best way' and then rationalize why it should be best for everyone

I think that's fair enough! Those are valid reasons to own those. I realized after I made that post that I was being too idealistic when it comes to the selection. In a perfect market, what I said would be true, I think.

I would like to see some more diversity in regulated mods, myself. Everything is crazy high power. What if people don't need that and would rather spend the same money for less power in exchange for say, better build quality, a better look... ...maybe even something new that uniquely benefits low-mid power vapers. Yanno, something classy and low-key that isn't an overpriced provape product.

I don't consider you a cloud chucker, you just like what I think of as a more aggressive vape (more action, faster). I'm the same way, it's just that I'm good at 40'ish watts.

Cloud chuckers, or cloud chasers, go primarily for the big clouds. Back in 2013 when I was into mech mods and Genisis tanks I was called a cloud chaser by a few people. They didn't get it. I ignored them.

Vape on :)

I hear ya and I kinda agree. OTOH, I have the feeling that the price hit for extra watts is so low it's pretty negligible. With mods like the RX200 being so inexpensive already, how much more quality could someone build into a mod at say 50 watts rather than 200 (and now the RX200 goes up to 250 with the latest firmware) at a comparable price?

Now, the RX200 could benefit from some improvements. The 510 connector can be an issue for some folks and my first one has the anodizing (or whatever finish they have on it) worn off the bottom in spots. But I also use that mod as my daily beater in my workshop. It's had machine oil spilled on it, enough sawdust so I was tasting wood when I vaped it, it got 'watered' a few times and it's still performing perfectly. Haven't dropped it yet though and that might not go so well considering the die cast body, but then again it's only $40.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and now I'm going to stop to derailing @Mythical_OD 's thread :)

Yea, Im really not tryin to cloud chuck, its just a by product, and to be honest, I dont like it. Im not someone who likes to draw attention to themselves (contrary to what I do online lol), and blowing giant puffs of thick white vapor everywhere I go definitely goes against that. Its a hassle. I always try to blow the cloud down toward the ground or somewhere out of sight if possible so nobody notices. Oh well though, guess I should be happy that Im even able to get the kind of vape I like. Probably wouldnt have been possible just a year or 2 ago.

Right now: 1 ohm 16W using a Merlin with a parallel 30g radiator coil 16mg/mL 60/40 pg/vg.

Unless it's effecting your breathing when you exercise, I say "vape on!" :D

what kind of atty.

All of them....

OK, On my Reo clone I run either a Chalice 3 or Hobo 3. Hobo on now has a twisted 3x32 at .8ohm single center mounted coil. Don't remember the build in the Chalice but its 1ohm and also center mounted, inner air ring removed. I like running a single coils right under the opening for the Driptip, duals I'll tend to push out toward the air inlets.

On my tube mech I have a Kayfun with a 1.1 ohm coil I think it's 2x32 but it could be from the same 3x32 nich as the Hobo or even 28awg. Been in there a while and I have 2 tanks built and in use and cant remember what builds are in them.

My sat 22 is setup with a 4 wrap 32 coil so around 1.9ohms. this one is a bit hot for me. will do 4-5 wraps of 30 or 31awg next time.

All of these are with a 2.5mm id coil. All wicked with cotton balls, except for the Geni.

I'm at 140 watts on a .2Ω build. Actually - I just made new coils for my dripper (the only thing I use) and it came out to .16Ω. At the moment, still at 140 watts, though.

Dual claptons in my rda, ~100w .45
Clapton coil in my tfv4, ~60w .40
How did you get your dual clapton's so high? My duals generally ping about .25-.3 I just wrap 24g kanthal in 30g kanthal though. I took one out a couple days ago because I wanted to try some higher ohm builds so to say I'm enjoying my .57 single Clapton at 55 watts right now

9 to 10 watts, rarely ever higher. Currently 2.07 Ω; my favorite build generally always comes out right between 2 and 2.15 ohms. (9 wraps 29ga around 3/32 drillbit).

I cape at 2 levels: when at home in the house I run "circa 2015" rebuild able tanks, geared for flavor over clouds. Usually between.35 and.20 at 55 to 75 watts. For work, outside, and back deck I run the newer massive airflow big coil tanks. Usually around.15 to .12. 100 to 150w. Amazing flavor with massive clouds as a byproduct. And as long as I am outside, zero fucks given in public. But I do try to vape away from kids and crowds. No one has ever given me a hard time about vaping in public. Although where I am from, (Pittsburgh), people tend to keep their opinions to themselves. One might tend to catch an asswhoopin if not.

I tend to also be somebody who has 2 completely different styles depending on time of day/where I am.
For early in the day, Work, and out and about I usually stick to a .3 coil, run at about 35-40 watts. Throws great flavor, decent cloud but not enough to be obnoxious, and has great battery life. Later in the day, and when I am at home I tend to run anything from .1-.5 anywhere from 60-150 Watts depending on my mood. I tend to like the warmer, dense vape at home, and the slightly cooler, less dense vape for out and about.

I am a experienced vaper and I have a Buddha Z v3 with my usual 0.16 ohm build in it and I run it at 150-170 watts and it creates tremendous amounts of vapor and it does not get that hot either

Those really low builds are impressive, but you're not vaping that way all day, & if you are, then you're just burning through low or no nicotine, high VG syrup.
That's the problem with these forums...
Regular day to day vapers don't comment here much, so you people with the crazy low builds think you're everywhere.
You're not. 5-10% even mess with building, and I'm probably going a little high on that number.
